I don’t think it’s all that bad, gives us a good test against a fellow league one side who are also looking to be right up there before the season begins. It doesn’t really matter where it is anyway as no fans will be in attendance, home or away.

The footballing gods have struck again. The Sh1t get a home draw to a L2 side and we have to travel to the furthest easterly club in the southern half of the country. And a club which is expected to do well in L 1. Typical! It could work out well for us, us fans won't be able to make the long trek to Suffolk anyway, while it would be superb to see City lose to a L2 side

September 5/6th if you didn't already know. I assume unlike Sunderland last(?) season Ipswich don't have any international players?

Good time to play them maybe ? Hard to get excited about this tournament ... We all know the tournament that can give club momentum at a key stage of the season and can get you to Wembley but shouted down if you talk positively about it. This is the old League Cup we've still get the excitement (!) of the EFL Trophy draw to come later this afternoon.

We played Chelsea after beating Cardiff; so beat them again and who knows? We also beat Fulham away and had a great game at the Wolves; if we had hit through we could have been at Man City. Chelsea was a great away day so it would be good for the team to win and draw a big fish before hitting the highs of the EFL Trophy?
I fancy the same score again.
TV will probably centre on London clubs like Brentford vs Wycombe?

What a awful draw all the away 2 Ipswich Funny though 2 years ago we would have liked this draw and would have taken a reasonable following as a lot of our fans had not been to Portman Road until last December

Pick of the ties in the southern section. Newport county v swansea city. South wales derby. Crawley v millwall. Nice game for Tony Craig. Gillingham v southend united thameside derby.
Northern section. Sunderland v Hull city Derby v Barrow. Nice game for Barrow upon rejoining the football league.

Went there in an FA Cup replay about 20 years ago, think we lost 1-0? We got our coach driver arrested!

That was the one, the game at the Mem had really bad thunder & lightening, looked like it could have been abandoned at one point if memory serves me right?

The whole of the 2nd half Ipswich were just punting massive long balls aiming for their striker, I think it was Jamie Scowcroft, I think that's how they got the equaliser towards the end.

Shame it wasn't a nice easy club at home such as Stevenage 🤐 Yep we sure did show them how to play football when they visited us last season. I reckon that was one of the lowest points of the season even though it was the Mickey Mouse Cup

The less said about Rollin’s ‘defending’ for their goal, the better. He was given the run around by a 37 year old Craig Makail Smith, all night long!

The last time I and a couple of mates went to Ipswich we had Julian (Have a bannana) Alsop in our team. Sat in the stand their horse type mascot walked in front of us, and we began chantining "One Julian Alsop... " at it. Imagine our surprise and embarassment when we turned around to find he was sitting 4 rows behind us 😁
