People are allowed in to a football clubs bar or a cinema to watch a game, but not in an open air stadium? Absolute nonsense. That's the part that is making most people angry. I don't think you can compare going to a half full cinema to watch a movie to being allowed to football, but watching football in busy pubs or even stranger, your clubhouse with the curtains closed is madness!

Been mentioned a few times, just wanted to support the view that maintaining social distancing at a football stadium (particularly ours) is practically impossible.
Even in controlled environments its hard enough to police some people, imagine 3pm on a saturday after a few pints...
Appreciate the £ implications but I just cant see it happening until we are Covid clear

Unless some concession is made many clubs who have been around for over a hundred years will soon be gone forever. Is everyone happy with that prospect?

I wouldn’t be so sad to see clubs from 1982 go bust........

Has anyone even considered the logistics of thousands of fans turning up at a game?
Is it safe to have thousands of people congregate in a very built up area? Especially when they are traveling from far away.

Statistically as things stand in our area, around 5 people in a crowd of 10k would have coronavirus - still worth the risk? Not for me, whilst cases are still, rising.

Well, as the petition now stands at 138,704 signatures
it is a moot point. This now has to be debated in parliament - though I do not know what the timescales are.

Especially when they are traveling from far away. I think it really depends on the size and facilities of the stadium. It would be difficult achieve at the Mem, therefore only a small amount would be able to attend. These would only be season ticket holders meaning it would probably not be cost effective for the club. These out of town stadiums would work well. Big car parks, concourses around the stadium. You could easily implement one way systems and decent enough social distancing whilst being able to allow a decent percentage of fans to attend. I am not sure how it would work for the bigger stadiums in London for example. Whilst I am sure they could implement decent safety measures, many fans would still arrive by public transport so the risks are not in the stadium itself, but on the commute.

On this basis we will almost certainly see many clubs go bust. It won’t ever be 100% safe until there is a vaccine and despite positive noises who knows how long that may be. Nobody has to attend matches, anyone with risk factors such as certain existing conditions, the obese and elderly probably shouldn’t attend. For the vast majority I don’t see why grounds can’t be completely reopened with the caveat being masks must be warn and sanitizers used. zero tolerance. Masks are already mandatory on public transport I believe.
