Agree with others, in that it's close but quite there yet. I like the subtle, all top designers have subtle, and you shouldn't move from that, I also agree that not having the 2 swords was a good thing, although it's Rovers, this is also meant to be something that in the future, can be purchased outside the club shop, and be worn by non-Rovers supports, getting things like skull and crossbones is a no, no!! Although the pocket isn't suited on this one, I would suggest looking at Lyle and Scott or Superdry, who have pockets (they are mainly just very small ones), someone said that pockets are only on cheap items of clothing, and that couldn't be further from the mark! Going forward (and not sure if Ralph Lauren have a copyright or anything) but I would look at having just the sword on the front, and the 1883 (or just 83) on the arm, this would just be an arm of the design, and not a new look. Hoops and similar designs are in at the moment (look at Jack Wills), they have quite a few of these designs (along with boxers) Can I also suggest staying away from gastly massive image t-shirts? Like the ones you find in Primark for £1? Or if you do, make them dirt cheap lol. All this Fred Perry / Ralph Loren stuff all sounds a bit aimed towards a narrow market to me. We will be bringing out our own Burberry range next. How much research has been done out of interest ? Should look at what has sold well elsewhere. Its a shame we are restricted to Barrys suppliers too as he was all about flogging microwaves and food hampers.

Already posted but my St Pauli style idea that i have heard loads of fans comment on (some own them) was poo pood. I also think legend t shirts. Stuff like that is more universal then the football factory chic fred perry stuff imo. It has it place but i think ither stuff would sell more. Loads would buy a Rickie Lambert rovers legend t shirt or a smash n grab t shirt etc

Not sure if I would buy something like this, perhaps a bit too subtle, OK for a fashion line logo, but is too far removed from the Rovers. I can see the argument about not wanting to draw attention to yourself on a night out, but I wouldn't normally wear a polo shirt like this on a night out. Possibly a good quality short-sleeved shirt with this logo might be better. Emphasis on good quality and not something that would look shabby after a couple of washes like a lot of Rovers merchandise. Maybe also consider Dinsdale's Ralph Lauren type Polo shirt idea with a pirate silhouette design and 18 and 83 on the shoulders. Not sure where Capt Gas got his logo from, but I would have liked a good quality T-Shirt with that type of design for the summer. Moving away from the shirts, could the retail committee consider a short set of pyjamas in blue & white quarters based on our kit. I think it would appeal to both kids and adults. My son has some, worn them to death and they now need replacing. This isn't intended to be a defensive or aggresive post, but I would like to answer and address a few of your points. Firstly and most importantly, it's not "my logo". This is exactly how the Retail Panel team got to where we did: 1) ask the fans what they want 2) collate information 3) look for common themes 4) discover lots of people mention they are looking for subtle/discrete designs. 5) discover there are gaps in the market outside of our 'loud and proud matchday merchandise' 6) come up with several design ideas 7) discover 1883 is deemed to be the most important part of our badge 8) create more designs revolving round the 1883 theme, trying to add a pirate reference 9) rule out two swords as it looks like an American Cavalry badge 10) go for one diagonal sword, as, when printed in yellow/gold, provides a Black Arab reference. In all honesty, it is actually intended to be a "Fashion Line Logo". If I had to generalise who this shirt might appeal to, I am guessing the demographic would be an adult male over the age of 25. The quality of the polo is quite high spec, it is cotton with a 210 GSM grade. The panel never had much choice in the actual shirt. We wanted a yellow/gold logo on a black shirt. However Mann Brothers, the club supplier, couldn't make this for us in time for Christmas. The navy blue shirt very much is a compromise. We just wanted to get the logo design out there to gauge opinion. We went for the white detail option (collar & pocket) as we all felt a plain shirt with just the logo would be too subtle. Personally, I think this design is a fairly close match to a Fred Perry. I am not 100% happy with the shirt, but happy enough to buy one. To go for a design like Dinsdales shirt would, again in my own opinion, be moving against people's request for a subtle design. This is not necessarily the opinion of the panel. I have personally suggested nightwear to the panel, as I believe it is something we currently don't do, most kids wear pyjamas and more excitingly, it's a great opportunity to use "Goodnight Itene" and/or "I'll see you in my dreams" on some merchandise. Sorry Capt Gas, bit of a mis-understanding. When I mentioned your logo, I was referring to your banner under your username. I was looking for a decent cotton splash T-shirt to wear to the beach with a decent design. Just like your banner. Also, my idea for pyjamas was based on a football kit which the youngsters (and maybe oldsters) would enjoy, especially those whose parents would struggle to afford a replica kit which would be out of date after one season. Maybe your idea of "Goodnight Irene", across the shoulders where a player's name would be, might appeal. I agree with the bucket hat idea, but not with too wide a brim that makes it look more like a cricket hat.

if we're going to stick with one sword, I think it would look better from the bottom right pointing up to the top left, rather than the droopy wanger look its got at the moment. Should be aggressive innit

If they are prints they are easily done yourself. Embroidery I cannot help with but print designs aren't hard. Buy your shirts from stock, I can vouch for some good vendors that do good quality polos for about 2 quid a piece when bought in bulk. Prints cost about 2 quid each so your shirt costs 4 quid completed. You need a heat press to set up which costs 100.

Good idea Ras, t shirt printing is cheap and fans would buy decent printed t shirts. It feels like the aim of the group is to become award winning designers but id focus on getting lots of sales done and revenue for the club. I know loads of people who would want to buy Rovers legends t shirts or maybe a goodnight irene top. Designer polo shirts have a limited audience. If you know a few contacts Ras id get a load made up and make yourself some money. Chewbakka was going to do that. We used to have a Few guys selling printed t shirts outside the ground who did a good trade.

Talking of missed marketing opportunities, I just noticed the pink scarves for sale with 'This girl loves the Gas' on it. Istm, 'This girl loves it up the Gas' would have sold more.

IMO, by and large it's cheap polos that have pockets. Every "smart" polo shirt I own is pocketless. We'll have to agree to disagree. Lol it's fine. Maybe if we are going to go down the pocketgate route, then maybe something like this? www.lyleandscott.com/puppytooth-pocket-polo-shirt/polo-shirts/fcp-product/2081With the collar and pocket different colours? Eg, White polo, blue collar and pocket, and visa versa, could do the same with all our away kits, black and yellow etc?

I had a good look at the shirts and they are deffo dark blue.
The logo actually looks alright up close and is just the right size. The quality is good and the piping and pocket actually enhance rather than ruin the shirt. I must admit I was surprised as they looked sh** in the photos.
The do look nice in real life and are smart enough to wear out.
This is definitely a case of a very very poor photo ruining things. I would think the panel will have learned a lot from this.
Be careful with sizes too because Rod bought one and needed an xl (I think) and he is not an xl looking chap. I normally wear xl and there is no way he is my size. Maybe Rod could confirm which size he actually bought in the end???
It's still over priced imo at 20 quid. I'd pay 15 for one and be happy with my purchase. Maybe we'll just have to wait for the shop to reduce them!

My chest size is ~43/44inches and I normally need an XL (sometimes I can get away with an L if sizes are generous). I tried on both XL and XXL and bought the XXL in the end as it was a more comfortable fit for me (and I was wearing it over a t shirt to be fair). So - for a fitted fit you might get away with your normal size, for a looser fit go one up, as I did.
