I personally think we should have offered Tom broadbent more money than Swindon did, or bought Ryan sweeney as their both better than ehmer by a mile TN hardly plays for Swindon and Sweeny's stuck in L2, not sure they are any better, our problem is both Ehmer and Hanlan played alongside much taller player at Gillingham, we're expecting them to do a completely different role for Rovers.

Jakkola, Abs, Alfie all obvious ones for me. Why are two players who are out injured obvious captains? Kilgour needs to concentrate on his game not being our captain.

Can there be an option added for "It literally makes no difference who wears an armband" ? I understand the sentiment about organising and leadership, but I doubt any player consciously decides to change their game if they are (or aren't) the nominal captain. Not sure I agree. If the team/matchday squad was made up of seasoned pro's who all know exactly their jobs and are experienced enough to get on with it, then fine, the Captain is purely ornamental. In a squad of inexperienced youngsters and others that have shown that they cannot, for example, remember to do the basics at a corner then a Captain, organiser and on field coach is vital.

Jakkola, Abs, Alfie all obvious ones for me. Alfie imo doesn't have the tactical knowledge to be captain.

No.
However, we don't have any obvious leaders that are likely to be ever present in the starting 11 so it's tricky picking a replacement.
Based on the fact he's the only player likely to start every game I'd go with Nicholson.

I was really excited by him signing. He came to us with a great reputation and was loved at gillingham so clearly he is more than capable at this level.
For whatever reason, he hasn’t been able to find his best form with us. I think we’ve got a few in the same boat at the minute. Let’s hope he and a few others can have a change in fortune and turn it around.
It can be as simple as a bit of luck or a last minute winner to give the whole team a boost in confidence and turn the season around, let’s hope that moment comes soon. UTG!

Find it impossible to believe that he's genuinely always going to be this bad week-to-week. There must have been a half-decent player in there at Gillingham because he came relatively highly-rated for the division. I think he was their captain(?) and they seemed upset to lose him at the time.
Not sure what's happened since but he's been pretty terrible since day one and in no way looks like captain material. Steve Evans must have done some job on him prior to this season.

He should be made to play with the U-23s until he can decide to play like he obviously did to attract us in the First place. If not, we should loan him out, or put him on gardening leave so we can recall Tom Davies!

A solid and reliable centre back that shows the passion and fight we're so sadly lacking.
Big mistake loaning him out when our other defenders are so poor.
If we have an option to recall him we should do it immediatly.

Maybe Tis moving him around so much has messed him up. Since the change of manager he has played centre half in a 3, centre half in a 4, RB and RWB
That would undermine you as a captain. A senior player being treated like a 20 year old squad player

Not sure why it’s not working out at the moment as he’s was a good player at Gillingham.
I think give Kilgour (if Jaaks is out) the armband and let Ehmer concentrate on just trying to get back to playing and the basics and get his form back

I wouldn’t say great and he hasn’t been vocal enough for me as a skipper but defensively we had some good performances. In 8 of the games Garner managed this season we only let in 1 goal or less. There were some poor performances like Doncaster and Fleetwood but in both games it was 2-1 until late with sucker punches as we chased the game. Lincoln and Sunderland were stand out defensive performances against top teams. Something must have caused his drop in form and unless someone has anything else the constant position change looks obvious to me

Ehmer does neither and in the good defensive performances you have mentioned, he was not the 'stand-out' defender. Most of the time it has been Kilgour, or Baldwin. But he has been responsible for the poor defending and the mistakes we have seen! Especially on Tuesday, when he was definitely most at fault for at least 3 of Accrington's goals. Sorry as a 'so-called' defender and captain he is indefensible currently!
