Another point is that the fear of dropping/farming out is also a potent motivator.
I work in a field where it’s similar. If you don’t perform you can get managed out pretty quickly.
You have to have it spelled out, the implications. You realise these players probably have raised their own bars several notches.
The first job in management is to get them working hard. If that doesn’t work then you look at what they are doing, if neither of these work then it’s the player.
We just witnessed step one.

Fantastic interview by JB, I wanted him at the club from day one, it’s ok for the the players to have some fear of the manager as it appears he has told them in no uncertain terms , does mess with me or the club, if you don’t put 100% effort you can leave, too bloody right for too long the club has just been drifting with no firm plan , he’s so down to earth but classy with it he will spot ballshit and players not giving their all for the shirt very easily. Sounds like he’s knows exactly what is now needed in just four games in , Tisdale was still learning their names after two months, I hope he’s told all the players and staff honeymoon period is now over.

Well that was a very damning interview which has surprisingly got a lot of support. Tisdale skirted around the issues Barton is highlighting and got absolutely slaughtered for his troubles meanwhile a different choice of words and suddenly it’s just what this club needs say the Rovers faithful. Just like Tisdale before him he realises that he has a massive job on his hands and is beginning to distance himself from future happenings, unless we stay up of course. And I hope he succeeds in that but the double standards on here is hilarious.

On a good day this squad is capable of winning both of these home games.
But it needs everyone to be at the very top of their game and as we know that's far from a certainty.
Sounds like the 2 or 3 playing with injuries might well be rested.
We are drinking in the last chance saloon this week.

I don't see why henry should be surprised at the positive reaction to JB'S interview, he may well be saying similar to PT but in a language all supporters and players understand. Perhaps PT, jolly nice chap that he was, sounded to much like the clever person he undoubtedly was , and the players were left scratching there heads , bewildered by the terminology being used? don't think they will be in any doubt of what's expected of them from now on!, some will resent it and it will be goodbye. As for 'distancing' himself from future happenings i think the opposite is true and if our 'rise' is preceded by a fall then so be it and he is here for the long term. As for Stanley tomorrow, well it all points to a tough evening for us all, with a probable team shake up , those who step up will have to hit the ground running in order for us to get anything, we need 6 wins but i would not put this as one of them, then again neither would i have pencilled in 6 points from Shrews and Pompey, so we most hope for a similar committed 'error 'free performance and a very welcome ,surprising 3 points, would settle for 1 though. up the Rovers !

As positive as I am JB could be the person longer term for this club (and he won me over with his knowledge and passion in the first week or two), if he isnt able to keep this team up with the amount of games he will have had, that will be a failure. Minimum 4 points from next 2 games and hopefully we can push on. Not saying we should sack him, but compared to BG and PT it will be just as big a failure. Also, we cant afford another summer player clear out. Hopefully we move some on, work on the promising ones here and add the 3-4 players required to make this potentially very good team actually deliver.

I think the reason for the “double standard” with JB and Tis is that the football is much better under JB. Under Tis we were playing aimless hoofball. Barton we look tons better. Tis was losing all our easy games. JB has lost 2, one of which we were never expected to get points from and one in which we were essentially the victim of a freak ref decision.

Barton has gone for the nuclear option today. I must say, I quite like it. Will it work? Only time will tell.

The team he selects has got to man up and get on with it, after all they are all playing for their places. Can someone please tell them that.

That looks a very positive line up!, never seen Martinez, presume he is centre half so can't do any worse i suppose, i like Tutonda but his defensive duties have left a lot to be desired when i have seen him, much better and dangerous going forward so would prob keep Luke there with JB's words ringing in his ears and play Tutonda instead of Westbrooke.
