Objective data unmatched since 2018. Had BG or PT come out with that I think they would get absolutely hammered on here. Good interview IMHO, do not see anything wrong with the brief ref to data, if its true what's the problem? I was just pointing out that had BG or PT said that in the middle of a losing streak they would have been hammered. I have no problem with data. I'm offering the idea that some people who loathed BG for his techno-speak, or who loathed PT for his management-speak, and would not have been impressed with that coming from them, still admire JB for his mountaineering-speak, or even fighting-speak.

Win essential for any chance of avoiding the drop and even if we pick up 3 points tomorrow it will still be a hell of a battle to stay up.

No matter what data you have you thing that counts is how many times you put the ball in the net as long it is more than the other team !!

Referring to it as 'the great escape' when we've got 10 games to go and its still completely in our own hands is a bit of an overstatement....

No the difference being, is what I have already highlighted, that someone would bother to insist JB's 2-0 losses and throwing away 2-0 leads are superior to PT's and BG's losses. As you have just demonstrated.

I really don't think we'll see Ehmer in a Rovers shirt again. Think you are right. Never seemed to act or lead like a captain and individual performances sub-standard more often than not. Not sure what when wrong but he does not seem to want to be part of the club and best for all concerned if he get his agent looking for a new club ASAP.

It's the sort of passionless, dry stat that PT and BG would get slaughtered for invoking. But coz JB has some carabiners and an entrenchment tool people are happy to hear it.

Fair enough Antonia , not a great fan of Date myself, must have it's uses i suppose!, at the end of the day though neither JB's improved figures or the excellent pre signing data on the likes of Max or Zain have resulted in any positive results! As you rightly point out, and i have mentioned on the 'Barton v Tisdale' thread , seems our managers are 'too quiet ,no passion' ' to clever with silly hats' and now JB gets stick for his 'will get done' ' climb Everest' pep talk, we all have our preferences i suppose.

I really don't think we'll see Ehmer in a Rovers shirt again. TBF, it needed to be done. I hope Ehmer recovers his form, but JAB has taken a logical and correct step that BG and PT blissfully ignored. Bristol post reports it more scathing..

I really don't think we'll see Ehmer in a Rovers shirt again. TBF, it needed to be done. I hope Ehmer recovers his form, but JAB has taken a logical and correct step that BG and PT blissfully ignored. Bristol post reports it more scathing.. Wow - you're not wrong!! Joey Barton says he cannot understand why Max Ehmer was named Bristol Rovers captain and believes the defender has "a lot of work to do" to force his way back into contention. Ehmer, who was selected as club captain before the start of the season by a vote by the playing squad, has been taken off at half-time in his past two appearances and has been replaced by Luke Leahy as the skipper. The 29-year-old joined Rovers from Gillingham in the summer amid great expectation and excitement from supporters, but – like several of the club's additions – he has failed to reach the same performance levels he found at his former club. The centre-back was replaced at the break against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, with Rovers 2-0 down at Home Park. Ehmer was also sacrificed at the KCOM Stadium earlier this month with Rovers trailing Hull City. "You’ve got to earn the trust of your manager and the players you go in the trenches alongside," Barton said in a brutally honest pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday's relegation battle with Swindon Town. "I felt we were too deep in the first 20 minutes and as the middle centre-back I think you set the line with your voice, communication and intensity. "To compound that, you only have to watch the second goal back. We never got an inch in their box, every time a striker of ours went in their box he was manhandled, he was man marked and they defended superbly which is why they get the three points. "For us on Saturday, it was either waiting for someone else to do the job or doing half a job or three quarters of a job. "We can’t have anybody that’s prepared to do half a job of three quarters of a job, we need everybody doing a full job." The Rovers boss has crossed paths with Ehmer before. The Germany-born defender came through the ranks at Queens Park Rangers, where Barton was captain. "For me, it’s a common theme," the manager said. "Don’t forget I’ve known Max from when I was at QPR. He was training with us when he was 20 and the observations of him then haven’t changed much to the observations of the player I’ve found now. "That is worrying in that period of time, seven, eight or nine years, if you’re still making the same mistakes. "I think you can only help yourself. He can only help himself first and foremost before you can help any of your teammates." Leahy has been installed as Rovers' captain for the rest of the season, and Barton believes Ehmer was not the appropriate choice to wear the armband – though the manager says he is committed to "building him back up". "Captain when we came in, and I just don’t understand that," Barton said. "How can that be the leader, the person you set out as the head of your organisation, as the head of your troops? "He’s got a lot of work to do, the boy. We’ve got to build him back up and it’s not straightforward, and, as I say, I can only help people who want to help themselves. "We’ve got no time for passengers, and as cruel as that may seem, unfortunately this is not a charity. This is an elite performing environment that is not elite performing at this moment in time and it’s my job to get it there, because I’m a custodian of the building. "I’m here to do the fans proud, to do the owner proud, to do the city proud, and unfortunately there’s going to be collateral damage along the way. "If you don’t help yourself, you’re not going to be staying on this ship long. You’re going to be getting thrown overboard. "I’ve told the boys that. We’ve got no time to waste, because the waste has got us in this situation. "It’s unfortunately par for the course. If you don’t understand that, you shouldn’t be an elite level sportsman."

Saw this earlier, I absolutely stand by Joey on this. Whether you like him or not, this is exactly what was needed and why Garner and Tisdale were just too weak.
Along with their reflection on Sunday and kicking out of the captain, players should hopefully be having a good old think about their priorities. No ones position is safe.
Fingers crossed we finally see some fire up their backsides. Almost tempted to watch the game tomorrow now ffs 😂

Not another Kyle Bennett situation hopefully.
