....and white shorts and socks. Please. UTG! How do you feel about hooped socks ? I’d like a year of white shorts and black socks, like the 50s kits used to be.

Totenkopf is the name SS Nazis regiments called the skull on their badge. If adopted it should increase our away support, all those neo Nazis out there will see it as a real symbol that needs support. It's called the totenkopf because that's what skull and crossbones is called in German. While there is historical German military usage of the iconograph, it generally is more associated with piracy in today's era I find and is commonly used by many anti-fascist groups. St. Pauli are especially associated with it in their fanbase and many of the fan groups utilise it in their logos, and I would say St Pauli fans are as politically left as you can be in the most extreme cases. I myself follow them, but I would consider myself far more central than a lot of their fans can be. I think the badge works as it is. If you're looking for merchandise with a similar theme, of course there's always Crossed Swords 1883 who provide something similar. I'm personally a fan of the badge being more of an official crest and then having something simpler for the shirts, like Liverpool do currently (official crest for club into, simple Liver bird and LFC text on the shirts).

Am I a "Traditionist" or a "Moderniser". Toughest question of the day for me being an old git. Ah to hell with it, I shall throw my hat in with those who want change. If you want change Barum, have a look down the back of the sofa. Did it and found a £1 which I will send off to Joey as that should be enough to pay of those wasters contracts

I really like the crest on the board and I think it’s about time we had a revamp from the current badge.
I hate walking around Cabot and seeing that bloody robin on tracksuits and shirts, but that type of simple badge is what sells better.
People are wearing football shirts less and less and moving towards tracksuits, polo tops, jumpers etc and don’t necessarily want a football club badge on. But if you were to have the skull and swords that’s something which I think people could get behind and wear a lot more, because it’s not necessarily a traditional football club badge.

I’m all for putting that alternative badge on a whole bunch of leisure wear, I agree it will be good for business. But I would like to keep the old badge for replica kit and gear. Why restrict ourselves commercially.

Its quite interesting looking at your profile Pic to realise that we've never kept a club badge for long.... There was another one (during the Bobby Gould era) so that makes 4 all together.... Fascinatingly, the last 2 crest/badge changes have happened when we've shifted stadiums (more or less)....

Can we incorporate gas? Perhaps add a methane molecular structure in the eye socket of the skull?

I like our current badge. If we were to update it though, i think it would be good to remove everything and keep the pirate and the ball. A little like the currect Spurs badge

We should definitely print blue t shirts with just that skull and cross swords on it, official merch, maybe just a simple 1883 on it, would sell like hot cakes… like the St Pauli one but blue!! The St Pauli skull and crossbones isn’t their official club crest on their shirt, that’s like a little red castle thingy innit? So let’s keep the pirate too! I’ve got a St Pauli shirt, just because it’s a great t shirt and they’re a admirable club. They’re the less successful team in Hamburg but they’re culturally way cooler. Wouldn’t it be great if hipster visitors to Bristol had a iconic t shirt they could parade round their hometowns?

The kit having badges on is a relatively modern thing . I dont recall the smash and grab era having anything on the shirts.(is that right ?) I remember a kit where it was BRFC in italics diagonally across the heart area. Wasnt there one similar to the supporters club badge for a while (?) The boxes of the twerton years.
I guess a change of badge should go along with a change of direction for the football club.
The current badge is the one the club have used on shirts for the longest time...by a long distance.

The "Motto" of the 17th/21st Lancers, now part of the Royal Lancers. A fine Regiment, I had the privilege of serving with them from 1983-1987 in Germany - UTG

I don’t mind having a pirate holding a sword but he looks a bit camp the way he holds it with one foot on a ball. And I like the skull and crossbones. Although having said that I’ve never been one to pay to much attention to these sorts of things for example the white shorts or blue shorts debate often comes up on here , I don’t really care what colour shorts we wear or what the badge looks like that much as long as the players are playing for the badge and their blue or white shorts.

I always thought we were stretching it a bit singing "come on you blues" . When the socks were white ,the shorts were white and the shirt 50% white !
