Don’t forget:
Billy was with us a few seasons and it’s only one where he was brilliant. He was a bit part player the other seasons and nobody thought he was this unstoppable talent, he was just a squad player.
Football is so much about form and don’t expect the same player back.
So many of our top players were legends for us and did nothing elsewhere. Conversely, many, many signings were great elsewhere and did nothing for us. It’s a very weird and unpredictable thing, football.
I think he has links to Bristol or locally if I remember correctly. If he’s willing and fit, Joey and the club will know a bit more about his injuries and whether they can be “fixed”, I would genuinely be excited if he returned BUT I don’t expect the same player. Perhaps being in the place where he played his best football, with a crowd who love him, would get the best out of him.
Let’s be honest, if he had played the football he did for us at say, Cardiff or Northampton, we’d quite like him to sign here anyway. He is a cut above league 2 or should be, if and when fit.
Issue is, we have a lot of the relegation team here on contracts and space for the new team is limited. This is the issue with anyone with an injury problem.
Or, will we just pay up some contracts?
To be fair, given what we have left from last year, I want most of our signings to be big strong players, we have enough flair type players already.

Season one 38 games 13 goals Season two 36 games 13 goals Season three 21 games 9 goals I think he was pretty good every season, the only Time he wasn’t a big regular is when he first joined and was unfit.

If only he was a big part in our promotion season, during his first season with us and scored vital wonder goals😂. Against Dagenham for example, or do only tap ins count?? He played well every season for us. The question is how fit is he now and is he the same player still.

I’d love him but he’s going back to Swindon. Just a quick question. ‘How will Swindon be able to pay his salary? They’ve got no money and are heading into receivership

We are in league two, we're not in a position to pick and choose. I would be terrific if he comes with a year contract and a clause for another season. And it would be great also for a young prospect like Ryan Jones.

Should BB sign for Rovers it would all be about game management. Play him at home and on decent away pitches . Dont play him in midweek games (if there is a saturday home game).
Dont over train him .
You might say that's a lot of wages for 23 games a season. Win 23 games and you get direct promotion.

Short and obvious answer is no. He didn't guarantee us 3 points every time he played previously, so he wouldn't if he signed for us again. There's an occasional misconception that having 1 or 2 top class players dramatically increases the chances of success, when sadly it doesn't work like that. They help to make teams a more competitive, but its ultimately down to the cohesion as a team, and no matter how good an individual is, if the rest of the team is crap then they will struggle.

I'd say JCH disproves that theory, if he'd stayed another season then even under Garner we would have probably had a decent season. Although you sense BB will be looking for to sign for a L1 side rather than L2, particularly if he's watched today's L2 play off final.

JCH went from being what was the near (or top) scorer of L1 to scoring 3 goals. Knowing Garner he'd probably have loaned him out to Aldershot or something

But the seasons he was here the points return were pretty good. Im not saying the 23 games he plays are all wins , just in 23 games he can give that extra edge which could translate into wins and you need 23 wins. Im not sure many teams can cope with a fit BB and nicholson playing against them in league 2. Especially on a good surface like the mem.

Isn’t Harrison going there as well? So they’ve really got the band back together with Bodin, Harrison and Taylor. Little bit jealous to be honest.

They're all past their best I wouldn't say Ellis was past his best. L1 is his level and he's still fit and young.

It has gone quiet on Harrison to Oxford because Portsmouth failed to sign Stockley
