Abs Grant and Westbrooke for the combative/creative roles with Coutts providing options is a very good midfield for L2 IMO. You don’t think Coutts has been brought in for the starting XI?

Def not too much. 3 tackling mids should be minimum. Agreed. Having only Grant last season who in my opinion also wasn’t really a tough tackling type anyway was Garners worst mistake. Glad Joey is sorting it, well hopefully, time will tell. He’s also tall. I think a shorter DM who is quick over 3 yards is really important like Holloway and Claude Ukelele

I would be happy for him to return if the deal was right for the club. From what I gather from Barton’s tactics and play style from his time at fleetwood, I think we will see us play 4231 or 433 or both. Both formations will require two holding players and if we aim for two players for every position we will need a fourth to go with Coutts, Finley and Grant. If that player happens to be ogogo as forth choice/cover, then I wouldn’t be disappointed

Why Garner didn’t rate Abu speaks volume of his management ability , Tisdale , who lets face it was a far better manager than Garner seen the value of a combative midfielder , we were a much better side when Ogogo played ,admittedly that’s not saying a lot with last years debarcle . A fit Ogogo would easily be a class league two player.

I like Ogogo a lot, but there are a few ifs here for me:
If his fitness can be proved If we can offload some other midfielders If we sign more attacking/goal scoring midfielders
If all 3 boxes are ticked, then let's do it. Otherwise I fear we'll have no creativity in the team

I like grant for the team next year, reckon we will line up 4-3-3 but in certain phases we will push both full back high up the pitch and grant can slot in between the two centre backs making it a kinda 3-4-3 Pretty sure we saw this in a grants last couple of games before the injury. Makes the team more fluid and very attacking, keeping the ball high up the pitch. This would also give us a bit more pace defending the ball over the top as Granty isn’t slow. Ogogo would certainly give us another bite in midfield along with endless pressing. If we are not capped squad wise, I would be happy if fitness is proven Finley is a box to box mid who loves a tackle so another out and out holding mid would be useful if the young ones Liddle and Mehew still need developing Just my thoughts 💭

Please sign at least one creative MF , someone who can do so damage from a deadball situation

The fact is that neither you nor I know the reasons behind Ogogo's release - there may have been genuine concerns about fitness for example. When he is fit and plays well Ogogo can be a very valuable player - but he was very inconsistent with us and found it difficult to maintain a high level of performance week after week. IF he is now fit enough and IF he can impress in pre-season that he could be an asset and I would be very happy if he earns a contract. But he has a lot to prove.

Coutts, Grant and Ogogo I'd love the cover it provides but too much? I'd be happy with him coming back. He's a Joey sort of player too. He was a big loss at the end of last season. Why Garner qas quick to get shot of him ill never know. Because like Craig, he said what he thought .

The club treated him disgracefully, not allowed on any of the clubs property. Most clubs allow ex players to train with the kids or something, just to keep fit.

Ogogo didn’t fit into Garners vision of “Total football” , he just wasn’t his type of player , a passionate , hard tackling , committed midfielder just wasn’t in the plan . Abu played a lot of games for his old club Dagenham last season in the National league and four for us before getting injured . At 31 he has the experience at this level and if he proves his fitness in pre-season then I too would be happy if he earns a new contract .

Is it time for stat man to show how Abs performs. He runs around a lot, not sure he is very fast. Tough Tackling, let me think, closes down not sure many Harries type bone crunching ball winning tackles if any I can remember. Played well inhis come back game, but helped by Grant.

I think he’d be an asset in the more physical league 2

The pace at the back stll worries me and so if JB wants to use strong, energetic midfielders to cover that then l would agree with him.
Last year our central defence was easily exposed by runners breaking forward and being outpaced, all to often the ball in to row Z never happened either.

Sorry my pedigree chums I don't have anything for his time at the daggers but here is a bit of the time spent with us last season and the season before against the defensive midfielders Attachment Deleted
