Absolute joke. Where do we go from here. The CPS very rarely charge if not a pretty clear cut case so we now have two cases for violence hanging over our manager.
I was beginning to worry that the pre season was looking a bit concerning with few games and COVID issues etc. Also thought JB had been very quiet and now we can see why.
I hate to say it but bad news seems to follow JB around……
Ant thoughts on a new manager? You couldn’t make it up!

On the brightside, at least we won't have to pay him off! AND we might actually get a football manager who isn't totally and utterly incompetent...

That suggests something considerably worse than accidentally hitting someone when having a bit of a shove and worse than just a single strike in the heat of rage.
(I'm not excusing either, but "beating" sounds like a much more sustained attack)

I've no reason to doubt you, but that's appalling if true I assume the Met Police would have contacted the club whilst investigating the crime? Someone I once worked with disappeared over night after being jailed for an awful awful crime. The official line was that he just decided to leave but rumour got around not long after what he’d done and we were sick to the stomach at the thought of having worked with him. Pretty sure nobody even had a clue he was due in court. Why would the club be party to an investigation over an employee when the crime has nothing to do with the employer other than it relates to an employee of the club?

The CPS are notoriously poor at dealing with domestic violence, and even poorer when the victim won't press charges.

If proven guilty it’s the end of him in football, there’s no way back for him.

On the bright side, at least Barton hasn't overseen a total dismissal of the vast majority of our backroom staff, so there'll be plenty of people to step in...

One can only assume that he's given an explanation to them upstairs? What explanation can you give for hitting your wife/any woman? It's not like Giggs who had no past form for using his fists. Let's be honest no Gashead is going to stand by Barton now? I'm not saying that there is any acceptable explanation for striking a blow. Giggs does have past form, he was witnessed punching Davina Murphy in the face, in a nightclub and being led away by bouncers, but she chose not to press charges, so it went no further.

And we've got a settled team who know each other well. Thank god we didn't give him total control and allow him carte blanche and the ability to completely overhaul the club. That would have been an unbelievably daft thing to do for a manager who had a couple is semi-decent seasons at Fleetwood, relegated us and had a rap sheet with more charges than we conceded goals last season. Oh...

I was against Barton right from the very start, but believe me I take no joy in reading this.
Feel extremely sorry for his wife, if the charge has any substance and I feel very sorry for the club and it’s fanbase who have firmly pinned their hopes and dreams on Joey being a success at the football club.
Domestic violence is a real issue in this country unfortunately and I’ve got utter contempt for anyone found guilty of it.

Those posts clamouring for JB a few months ago have aged well. Maybe one day we'll just employ a bog standard manager who's seen it and done it rather than another experiment.

Regardless Barton will surly have a contractual duty to inform the club of any issues like this, which may bring the club to the media's attention.

Why can't we just be a normal club?
I'm sick of the constant dramas.
Another season of off pitch problems its Chuffing embarrassing.
I cant see how hes going to be able to keep his job, its bad press for the club, and for us supporters a loss of pride.
Im ashamed of the club I support

Domestic violence is a real issue in this country unfortunately and I’ve got utter contempt for anyone found guilty of it. The only person I feel sorry for is his wife. I certainly feel no sorrow for BRFC whatsoever - we've got EXACTLY what we deserved for appointing a known thug - a genuine sh*tstain on humanity. Let's not now cry because Joey Barton has done a Joey Barton. We will get absolutely everything we as a club deserve. Karma frankly.
