I thought we grew into the goal but never looked like scoring, other than Harries goal of the season effort.

Possession Mansfield 56% rovers 44% Shots Mansfield 17 rovers 3 We’ve stepped down a tier with so say a better team but this doesn’t make good reading Ignore the stats as Joey says the officials robbed us yet again and that bloke he complains to every week at the EFL will agree.

Keith Brookman said we broke a club record for the longest run of not scoring. 530 odd minutes since last goal.

I watched the game and it was much more even than the stats suggest. The home side should have more possession and more efforts on goal. We allowed them to have possession in front of our defensive midfielders so we could exploit the space behind them on the break, and it nearly worked! We missed a good chance and looked dangerous without creating a goalscoring opportunity. Don't get me wrong,we looked a bit disjointed at times and it wasn't brilliant, but we looked more solid and passed the ball better than last season for sure. Second half I liked what I was watching in a few spells of play. Plenty of positives from the game, some really good performances. Mansfield were well up for it, flying into tackles, plenty of shirt pulling, going down and looking for fouls. They set out looking for a penalty from the get go, Hawkins was all over our defenders off the ball, with a stronger referee the result might of been different? By not stamping his authority on the game early on, you could see it could boil over. They played the referee better than we did and that was what got them the result. For both the sending off and penalty the rovers man was fouled in the first instance.... Suppose its welcome to league 2!
