When were we ever going to get anything near £150K?

Of course we weren’t going to get the money we paid for him. We’ve since been relegated with him misfiring for 6 months for it. We’re more likely to get the valuation that we thought he’d be last summer which is £50k.

Can anyone say they would blame any player for wanting out of Rovers?

Not sure what is the poor show from Hanlan after reading that article. A team in a higher division wants him and probably will offer him more wages. Add on top of that how he was treated by JB (along with the other strikers) last season, I don't blame him for a single second for wanting to jump at the chance to leave. I'm sure most of us in his shoes would do the same. Nowhere does it say he is refusing to play for us and I can't see anything that he has done wrong. I'm confused.

Can anyone say they would blame any player for wanting out of Rovers? He’s free to go if he does. We need players here that are fully committed to the club and turning around it’s fortunes.

Can anyone say they would blame any player for wanting out of Rovers? You would hope some of them would want to 'right a few wrongs' but I guess the fact most of them dont give a sh** is the reason we are in L2

I'm sure with the money he is on, Hanlan can make up the difference out of his own pocket if he is that desperate to get away. If the player was valued only recently at £150k, is still under contract, then surely he is still worth £150k. Let him go on loan to Lincoln and they can pay all his wages until his contract runs down.Simples.

If that's the case why did the tribunal tell us to pay £150k long after his first season with us ended and he was "misfiring for six months"?

Something’s value is how much somebody is wiling to pay for it. At present no-one is willing to pay the £150k. Although the tribunal was recent, it was ruling on how much he was worth last summer. Not how much he is worth now.

Has he ACTUALLY refused to play? It seemed from reading that that Hanlan has had his head turned, but that Barton is preemptively wondering if Hanlan might choose not to play, not that he actually has refused to play? Either way, Barton is saying too much and it won't do anything to help the player or the club's cause to gain maximum value for him. Barton is a smart guy but his blabbermouth does neither himself nor the club any favours.

He doesn't want to play here any more. No point keeping him. Just sell him on and accept the inevitable loss regarding his transfer fees. Put a sell on clause into the transfer and hope to recoup the money further down the road.
From a purchasing point of view, I would be very hesitant about a player who downs tools in order to get away from his current club. It demonstrates a lack of commitment and self centreness. Not admirable qualities for a team players.
Wow, we really recruited some outstanding players last season .....

In fairness to Hanlan he played as a No.9 for the first time last season, often as the lone striker and carrying injuries. He was rubbished by fans on social media and was hardly praised by Tis or Barton. I can see why he wants a fresh start and I suspect it's not just about money.

Wow!
We could be down to one, old, unfit striker soon….
We thought last seasons striking woes were bad…
No way should we be selling any striker until a deal is secured for a replacement. He’s under contract. Pointless selling him for £50,000
Tell him to earn his next move, get his boots on and repay the club.
If he’s banging them in THEN we can re consider.
