I very much enjoyed the last GasCast episode where a historic tweet was read to one of the presenters where he was calling for JB to go back in Christmas. He was pressed to apologise for it and said " if you can’t call for your manager's head after being relegated bottom of the league ten points from safety, then find yourself 17th at Christmas with Brett Pitman leading a high press in a 3-4-3 then when can you?" No need to apologise for having an evidence-based opinion. It is also worth noting that a lot of the negativity to Barton from our fanbase was not necessarily rooted around the footballing side of his involvement with the club. Something which probably won't have changed just by us playing well and being successful on the pitch... Your last point. There will no doubt be people who still feel uncomfortable with JBs track record and recent negative press. What we have seen though is that playing well and winning games does change the general negativity around JB. We have sold out matches in succession. The whole stadium has been cheering his name. Thousands of away fans have been repeatedly singing his song. National media have been giving him positive reviews. The negative stuff has been buried, and is only held by those few who are by the way, perfectly entitled and justified in their opinions. Most if not all of the negativity was enhanced by the football performances. The proof of that is clear as day and the fickleness is there, crystally clear. WRT apologies, that is up to individuals and there are obviously a few different personality types on these boards. It wouldn't make a difference really, but those who pin their thoughts to a public mast are there to be shot at when it turns out differently. People who hold their hands up generally get 'respect' but it's an anonymous forum so people can play as they wish without much comeback. I'd feel embarrassed if I'd written some of the sh1t on here, but that's me. I just hope our fanbase is a little more forward thinking next time we have a wobble. It won't be long.

I had mixed opinions when JB was appointed and said I would judge him only on results. After going down with zero fight I was still ok with him being given the task of rebuilding the squad. Changing managers yet again I don't think would have helped anybody.
We had a poor start, at this point I was seriously doubting if he was the right man for the job. If he had been sacked when he was reportedly close to it, he would have gone down as one of the worst if not the worst managers in our history. I'm pretty sure at that point his record was even worse than both Garners and Tisdales?!
I didn't think he could turn it around and certainly not as quickly as he did so I got that wrong.
Of course we now have to wait for another trial. If he is found guilty then the club would have no choice but to sack him. No doubt you will still have people on here saying he shouldn't have been sacked and the fan base will once again become divided.

Just listened to Barton’s post-match interview - the man is clearly delusional. To say that there wasn’t a lot in that game, and also keep banging on about getting into the promotion spots? F**king hell mate - wake up and smell the coffee for gods’ sake! That’s it for me - there is absolutely no way he will even start to turn this around until he takes a long honest look at what he’s doing to our club; and I think he is clearly incapable of that kind of reflection. Best get him gone now before it’s too late to salvage something. Hah - that aged well, didn’t it? To be fair, I had spent quite a long time defending him as a manager on here, but I remember getting to that point when I literally had had enough and that post-match interview made him seem completely divorced from reality! Obviously, in hindsight (which is a wonderful thing) I probably should’ve held my nerve and dug in, but unfortunately I’m only human and don’t have the ability to foretell the future (unlike a few of the posters on here, apparently); neither am I afflicted with Rich’s boundless optimism, so it felt at the time (for me personally, at least) that maybe it was time for the club to do some damage limitation and cut him loose. Fortunately I’m not the owner of the club! What can I say - I’m not perfect but there are obviously some superheroes on here who are, so hurrah for them.

His position was untenable really but Wael and a select few made the decisions and the rest is history. Thankfully!

Do we think the forum will have more patience next time we have a bad spell or a player who doesn't set the world alight after 3 games?(Coutts) Luckily for Coutts, he wont be playing in the first three games! Mind you, I am sure some of here will find a way to blame him if we have a poor start to the season! Talking of poor starts, when was the last season when we didn't have a poor start? I reckon its been many years since we ended September in the top half of the table! Season 1973/74 we went 25 games undefeated so a VERY long way to go. We went 27 league games undefeated from the start of the season, with just a defeat in the League Cup and FA Cup during that run.

Ian Atkins’ first full season in season League 2 we were either top, second or third at the end of August if that counts. (02-03 or 03-04?) Can’t think of many other examples. UTG!

I think there is often too much negativity on this forum when positivity would be more constructive.
If fans get on the players backs on a Saturday afternoon then they perform worse than when they're being cheered on. Just look at what happened last Saturday when the fans were literally sucking every ball into the net.
Everyone has a right to share their opinion, but sometimes it goes just a bit too far.

Barton the Manager, excellent season.
Barton the man, still not for me.
Looking forward to next year.

The negativity on here at the moment is from "positive" people complaining about something negative said six months ago.

Barton the Manager, excellent season. Barton the man, still not for me. Looking forward to next year. I think that's fair mate. As long as its not stopping people enjoying the games, as watching Rovers is all about having memories like these to look back on. I'd hate to think some people missed out on top matchdays watching a fully committed and talented gas team, just because of who is in the dugout
