Around the 7th game mark was when he was blocked by the board from bringing in Piggott, who went on to score 20+ goals that season. Might have been all so different last year with a goal-scoring forward. Sometimes in life one decision changes so much. BG worked to the strategy he was given by the Board and if he was blocked from this signing perhaps we were blaming the wrong person?

And yet I have basically no faith that the club will see where they're going wrong, and make changes for the better. The whole allowing JB to revamp the club may have been their way of saying "OK we were wrong, let's change it" but it's completely the wrong way to go about making changes, especially with the legal clouds hanging over JB. Wael and Starnes could not organise a P?!sup in a brewery. It’s not a given. I was underwhelmed with the Guinness Brewery tour and I had a fist full of drinks vouchers from the passengers on our tour group who wouldn’t touch my the black stuff. I went on a tour of a distillery in Scotland when I was younger, my dad had my entitlement and also one or two others in the group who were passing on a tipple. He came out half cut by the end. 🍷

We were obviously crying out for a goalscorer and the board blocked the signing of one that ended up scoring 20 goals. Absolute shambles.

When asked about the striker situation when he signed Liddle and spoke highly of him, he seemed pretty happy with his strikers. He said we have Hanlon, Daly, Ayunga, JLM, Nicholson and Walker to play up front. So is it just another made up rumour, that has become fact?? Or did the board think you have brought in 4 of your own forwards already?? Either way, don’t think anyone can say that he wasn’t backed.

That comes from someone on the inside of the club. Was also blocked from signing Ebou Adams from Forest Green. That comes from someone who scouted Adams and also later confirmed in the Bristol Post. Didn’t know that scouts were involved in deep negotiations?? If it’s fact and in the post, you won’t have no problem naming them then?? Where is the article confirming it?? If they were letting him leave so easily and it was an easy deal to do. Why didn’t any other club sign him?? We were obviously the only club they were willing to let him go to??

Not being allowed to sign someone (who costs money) and being blocked from signing someone isn't really the same. Eg did they say you can have 200 grand but you're not allowed to spend it on Piggott, or was it more like, we're just not prepared to fork out another £200,000? (on the assumption that is what it was gonna cost)

It's interesting BG's comments regarding this comment: "At Swindon, I’ve got that support and control that I need to be able to work they I want and for us to play the way I want". What the hell is going on at this club? It seems that no matter who the manager is or who the players are, we are perennially sh**e. I thought exactly the same, I do wonder how much say Garner had over the recruitment. Look at the way Swindon played on Sat, is there any way on earth we could have played like that with Ehmer and Baldwin as part of a back 3 I think that Mark Little's interview indicated that not all of the players signed were Ben's choices.

Went on a good Brewery tour in Monterrey. Sat in a very nice Beer garden , Sun out, shirts off, self serving from the magic beer fountain. No restrictions, there were about 50 England fans in there, it didn’t end well.

“The amount of work we did over the summer to rebuild the squad and work to the remit I was given. So, for that to be changed after seven games of the next season, I know I was sacked after 11, but it changed after seven, which was very disappointing.”
So he talks about his rebuild, ie summer 2020, then refers to 7 game period of the next season not the one coming at that time?
If so he’s referencing doing a rebuild under the restrictive remit he was given and now sees all of that gone under Barton. If true, BG has a point. What if he has been afforded the influence and control give to Barton?
Well look at his Swindon team Sat. Which set of players would you rather have playing for Rovers? Which system and approach to the game would you rather have? Which manager would you rather listen to? Which person would you rather have fronting our club?
I got BG wrong. A lot of people got BG wrong.

The transfer window closed on the 16th October The 7th league game was Shrewsbury away on 20th October We also played home to Burton on 17th October So Garner should have said after 5 league games, but maybe he was talking about cup games as well? I dunno, maybe it was about something else entirely.

BG maybe thinks of it going wrong after 7 games coz that was when he was still winning, even if the event came slightly sooner.

Perhaps they reached out to Tisdale ahead of officially pulling the trigger - maybe he was at the game, or something like that perhaps?

(on the assumption that is what it was gonna cost) Garner gave his name to the board in the summer when the opportunity to sign him for a reasonable fee was there. They didn't get the deal done and then he started the season in decent form and the price went up. Garner still wanted to get the deal done but the board said no.

No, not involved in deep negotiations, but privy to knowledge of the deal. Of course I'm not going to name the person, you can believe me or not, I couldn't care less. No idea why other clubs sign him and I didn't say it was an easy deal to do, but the chance to sign him was there and the board failed to get the deal done. View AttachmentThe only fact we know for sure, is that he didn’t sign for any club. That fact alone, tells me it wasn’t really available. Add IMO someone else, would have brought him in. So even if Garner wanted him, I expect a lot of other managers did as well and I board managed to sign him. Or do you not think any other manager wanted him?? That suggests it’s not as simple as the board just blocking a move. Every other board that wanted him agreed.

Just read what he said again and he explicitly said he was sacked after 11 games so the 7 games must surely mean only league games.Something changed after 7 games he states so I don’t believe it was about a blocked signing he wanted.Much more likely is what Roverdrive said about Tisdale being approached,Garner would know that somebody else might be watching games prior to taking over as that apparently happened with him before Coggers was ousted.Anyway it’s all speculation and unless Garner clarifies exactly what he meant, then we’ll never know.
