Say if Mangotsfield,Bristol Manor farm, Yate... ever got big financial backing like Forest green/ Salford have do you think either of them could build a fanbase that could support a L2 club or above?
I think both Bath City and Weston super Mare could if they had the stadium and finance.

I've always thought that we should have had a stadium in Mangotsfield, bloody nimbies (alot of them Rovers fans). The danger teams for Rovers would be Mangoes and Yate as they are both part of what traditionally used to be Rovers heartland. I would struggle to not be tempted to support these sides. They are after all local sports teams that have always had a good relationship with Rovers and their fans. Ideally we could go to both games. Saturday and Sunday. That would be cool. WSM and Bath are too far away to have a significant impact on Rovers.

Building 99 new homes, another training pitch and a load of other facilities. I went to watch them the other week, pint on the sidelines, had a great day. Toying with going again on Sat, but we're on ifollow so I mightn't go anywhere. www.westonsmareafc.co.uk/optima-stadium-redevelopment/

With Barton in charge this won't be an issue as we won't be in existence for much longer!

If I had to support another team it would be WSM.

Don't think so but we are going backwards at an alarming rate both on and off the pitch whilst others are improving rapidly. When we played a pre season friendly at Kidderminster three years ago under GC I was amazed at how their ground had been transformed since we played a league game there. Think our demise is very worrying thus talk of other local clubs overtaking us is not without foundation.
P.S.Bloke on 'POINTLESS' from Yate said he lived 'On the edge of the Cotswolds'!!!!!!!!

No. Maybe 40k in the catchment area that would physically attend a match regularly.struggle to get them going to two teams

Considering Bristol is the 7th biggest city in the country, the realisation that we haven't played in the 2nd tier for 27 years and the other lot haven't reached the top flight for 40 years is a shame on the city. The fact we are now in the bottom division and only four teams currently in a worse position than us in the entire football league, is an embarrassment and disgrace.

All dependent on the level of investment.
If Dale Vince can pump money into a village team and get them challenging for promotion to L1, then there is no reason that any team anywhere could not do the same. Meaning catchment/population have less of an impact than investment. How deep Dale's pockets are to sustain this is another matter.
Wael has invested to a level that should allow Rovers to stay in L1, but is sustaining L2 for the reasons we have all debated.
Currently, Lansdown has invested enough in City to maintain Championship status, but not quite enough to get into the Premier League, but if they got there then income is even less dependent on bums on seats.

At our trajectory we will do well to be in existence in our current shape in five years time.

I saw the Mince on the Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet program last night making diamonds from carbon extracted from the atmosphere (no lie). Conceivably his alchemical touch might yet provide them with sufficient financial muscle to push on even further up the pyramid. 🤔

That legends match felt a bit like what I imagine AFC Bristol Rovers would be like. Yes a lower standard of football, but pints by the pitch, relaxed, fun atmosphere, players coming over for a chat pre game. It was great, I’d rather go watch that than Barton FC every time. Realistically I can’t see the Mangos or Yate getting many more than 1k attendances, Bath City could do a fair bit better.

What colour would Bristol UTD play in, and what ground would they share. 🥴
