The use of 'Brizzle' does my bleedin' 'ed in! I was born in Downend, parents from St George and Bedminster, and numerous family originating from all over the city. NONE of them call the city 'Brizzle' - it's always BRIS-TAW with the 'T' pronounced. Here endeth the lesson. Proper like.

It stated because the book was called Kerk Waiters speak Bristle, with that word meant to be pronounced Bris-tle. But of course others read it as the word is usually pronounced, ie Brissle, as in bristles on a brush. Not that anyone ever called it that, but it caught on outside Bristol and morphed into Brizzle, which is another way nobody ever, ever pronounced it. But it's taken on a life of its own now and can't be stopped. I wouldn't be surprised if kids are now growing up using that word.

Was a popular song on the Tote back in the day as was You’ll Never Walk Alone. Can’t say I remember Irene being sung much on the Tote but maybe that’s my memory?

I’ve been trying for years to get people to understand that the mythical “Bristol L” is in fact a “W”!

Loved Showtrial and Hot Fuzz beforehand and Gas references. However they should have got their research correct because up until the Barnsley game the Shlt just couldn’t win at home lol

Another classic 'Adge' song was 'Virtue et Industria' and one of the lines went ...... 'if the City don't win Saturday' 'Perhaps the Rovers will'..................... Happy days!

One of the EastEnders producers was a Gashead I seem to recall. Occasional Rovers shirt seen on a drinker in the Vic and Goodnight Irene on the jukebox on more than one occasion

The DI in Showtrial is Sinead Keenan, who was also a star in Being Human, which was filmed in our fair city.
She used to live at the top of our street too. (Please stay awake at the back)
