Not to be confused with the people who want to get rid of Clarke because they DO want Rovers to be successful!
Just sayin'.......
So who do you want as manager Darren Patterson? Dave Penney ? Stuart Campbell ? Paul Buckle ? Shaun North ? Mark McGhee ? John Ward ? this is the first time we have been competitive since Trollope was sacked. Yet we have (supporters) on the teams back ,from the first few minutes of games. All I said was don't confuse them. I think it's fair to say that both constituencies exist.
Personally, I didn't think DC was the man to appoint - but that decision has been taken. He's our manager for the foreseeable future (at least to the end of the season).
Of the managers listed, I only had high hopes of Paul Buckle - and how he proved me wrong - and John Ward - who would have kept us up.
All of the others could be seen in advance as potential disasters - and from day zero I had no time for any of them. The BoD's management of recruitment has been appalling. Maybe I should ask for a consultancy fee for the next one.
Of people we possibly could have got along the way, I would have been happy if we had given someone like Mark Cooper the opportunity (rather than Swindon). He has always shown managerial qualities. I am sure there are others who have had less than illustrious playing careers, but are better suited to being managers. Mourinho/Wenger, but at a lower level in the pyramid.
DC looks like he fits the bill. When he was appointed, my concern was that he took us down, but we have given him the chance to rectify this. I hope he proves to be the right man and we get promotion. We need to get behind him.
Sadly, if you drop down 2 levels, it is somewhat easier to be competitive!

I am a DC fan, and one of his strengths is realism IMO. He would be the first to say that being competitive two divisions below where Trollope took us is all very well, but we have to grow a heck of a lot from where we are now. DC never blows his own trumpet or puffs up his team because he knows we're only just good enough ATM and we need to get better. I'm backing him to achieve that.

Scored again tonight against a league club for Worcester City. His goalscoring record is very good for a midfielder, several assists this season and is apparently a good set piece taker. A winger is probably the most urgent position right now or a a striker but I do think we need more creativity in the middle as well. He is an ex Man Utd trainee. Came up through the ranks with the likes of Welbeck. Could be worth a look at in January? Will he Geddes out of this league?

He tinkers too much and gets himself in binds by promising things that he shouldn't (on the ground, passing football, various strikers). I still rate him for where we are now and I think you'd have to be bonkers not to but he shows signs of (understandable) inexperience for me. However he's been a breath of fresh air when compared to MM and JW.

I believe that this, taken with cagastrophy's previous post, may well be a reference to a long-established humorous conundrum regarding the motives of a hypothetical chicken upon his decision to cross a hypothetical road, m'lud.

So you going to commit on a prediction? I think by Jan 5 we'll be still in the play-offs and closer to Barnet than we are now. I think we'll nil - nil our way into the play-off final, then win it without scoring a goal. A win's a win.

Back to the OP, I can't see Worcester letting go cheaply or the player just signing our, now, typical 1 year contract, of we are going to splash out on a player I'd say a winger or goal scoring striker is the priority not another midfielder.
As far as DC is concerned the next 3 games could determine just how good a manager he actually is.
