Fairly pleased with this, he isn't an eyebrow raiser thats for sure - but we really needed a solid target man at this level.
His goals this season is impressive in a poor team, providing he can finish and link up with teammates well, this could be an excellent signing.
We'll know how good he'll be depending on his contract length. Over 2 years and he'll be a flop, under 2 years and he'll no doubt be sold for £75k to West Brom in the summer

Well we've been crying out for a big frontman as a focal point.. hopefully this is the guy! Madness that Scunthorpe have let him go given their league position - I think he's their top goalscorer? They are in real danger of dropping out the league.. wonder if they have a replacement lined up - or whether they are struggling financially or something? Even more madness if this player is really his replacement: Sam Burns: Scunthorpe United loan striker from Blackburn Rovers - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59873452

Nothing I'm reading from Scunny fans or seeing on YouTube is making me think wow what a signing we have here. That being said, he has an OK record in a poor team so maybe in a better team he will improve and he is young.

Yes, I’m surprised reading their forum that they aren’t more angry at having their too scorer (is he?) sold when they’re where they are. We’d be furious wouldn’t we? But I don’t make notice of what fans say, Coventry fans didn’t rate JCH did they? In the end he starts his Rovers career and I reckon the players around him here are better than those at Scunthorpe so fingers crossed that he’s a good fit with us. UTG!

I think you have to bear in mind a little what they say. They've been watching him week in, week out. There are other variables to consider too though. Hopefully he'll do well!

We seem (unless my memory is playing tricks on me?) to actually have a fairly decent hit-rate when signing strikers in the January window - as such, hopefully this is another one. His goals video looks "OK" - but as many have said, he's been playing in a very weak team. He will get chances here, so if he starts brightly, who knows how well he may do. Either way, delighted to have a striker in the building so quickly. Welcome Lofty!

I've seen positive comments from Scunthorpe fans, as well as negative comments. Some of his goals on YouTube, have been pretty decent. Some player's improve at new clubs, others get worse. So I won't judge him, until he's played quite a few games for us. At least he gives us a different option. He's a lot more mobile than Pitman, so will give us a mobile target man, that can bring others into the game. Hopefully he can chip in with a few goals along the way.

It wasn't a criticism nor a judgement Dan, just an observation. If he was that impressive then we wouldn't have been a le to sign him. Hopefully he is a good signing with improvement to come.

Similar age to Lambert when he signed isn't he? We managed to get him from another league 2 club. I get what you're saying though. This signing could go either way. I'm just pleased we have a different option. 2 1/2 year deal is a bit of a risk, normally when we give out long contacts, they do rubbish!

He had scored 22 goals for Rochdale the season before we signed him and had been joint top goalscorer in the league. Not saying that we have necessarily signed Loft for his goals though. If they come then great, but if his presence in team makes us better overall then that's still beneficial.

sounds like just what we need. Of course nothing is guaranteed, but hopeful he can bring out the best in a very exciting attacking Rovers side and gives us a proper option against teams that will dominate us like FGR did Defenders today PLEASE!

big guy (not sure thats what we need), early signing, and league experience so on paper it looks good. not sure about giving him 2.5 years though. would have preferred 18 months - we're putting a lot of faith in him to get us out this division. watching with your eyes shut?

So if he scored 22 goals the season before, he didn't score many the season we signed him. So I wouldn't call him an established goal scorer, lots of players have had one good season.

I can't say I can remember, but wikipedia suggests we signed him on transfer deadline day in the summer: "Early into the 2006–07 season, Lambert was purchased for £200,000 from Rochdale by Bristol Rovers in a move finalised on 31 August 2006, transfer deadline day."

He didn't score in the first 3 games for Rochdale though. So there was still a slight risk and I can remember a lot of fans moaning. Although a lot moan anyway😂😂

Some on here don't half make me chuckle, always negative who ever we sign.Who do people actually expect a average 4th division team to buy? Me personally im just glad anyone without a connection to Bristol actually wants to try there luck here, give the bloke a chance and maybe another hayle/Lambert could be with us.

Quite excited by this strong and athletic with a hard work ethic, with great delivery into the box can see him having plenty of chances. Iimpressed with us acting sharply, not like last year waiting for Jayden for 4 weeks ffs. Every transfer is a gamble but this looks a potentially great signing, welcome Ryan UTG
