Do you think that's down to change of personnel and a month lay off? Most players played last week? Basically Barton hasn't a clue and he just gets lucky as we've some decent players for this level, who can score/save goals thanks to Wael's backing, imagine what a decent manager could do with this squad/similar backing. Let's just hope Evans doesn't leave this month has we could really start struggling if he does leave. I’ve been supporting that theory for quite a while. I think however we have to give him time now we’ve assembled his squad and there are no more excuses for him. I noticed in his recent presser he was a lot more balanced in developing a team - he’s right of course - his mistake was to tell everyone we will get promoted and what sort of a manager is he if he can’t take us up I admire confidence, but keep it to yourself I don’t think we will go up, however I’m happy to see progress and really hope we can keep our best players this window. Losing Evans or Nicholson or even Alfie would be a massive blow Anyway points when you don’t play well bodes well for when we finally gel. When did Joey say that was going to happen? Maybe today was finally the Titanic starting to turn that famous corner!! UTG

It’s taken months for the existing squad to settle and start showing their mettle.
It’ll take time for Loft to gel with his new squad.
Hopefully we can stop talking about gelling with everyone else now though.

Think we’re being a bit harsh, we didn’t look that great but we were obviously lacking abit of match sharpness after so many weeks out.

Definitely came into it match sharpness but Barton should have switched to a back 4 much earlier. Yet again Hartlepool are an example of a team who get in behind us time and time again down the outside of the back 3 and we rode our luck time and time again. I cant believe he didn’t change it. Seems a strange thing to say seeing as we won but I’ve had to check sky sports 3 times since getting home to check we actually did win after that!

That was a bit Muhammad Ali, Rope-a-dope. The difference being he meant it. We just seem to have no tactics today. Overran in midfield and chose not to change it. 3 points yes but we won't get away with that again

Fortunate to come away with 3 points but I don't think we were as bad as some are suggesting. Half of that starting 11 haven't played since 11th Dec so hardly a surprise that they were a bit off the pace. If we're going to persist with 3 at the back I don't see Anderson as a wing back, he's not good enough defensively, Kilgour was left exposed too often. I'd play Grant on the right and Clarke on the left in that system. Complely understand JB wanted to get as many of our forward thinking players into the side but I felt Coutts missed Whelan alongside him today, Hartlepool were neat and tidy but having Evans and Nicholson centrally allowed them to play. Finley coming back next week will help but it might mean sacrificing one of the forward players especially away from home. The result better than the performance but any Sat when the gas pick up 3 points & our red friends concede 6 is one to be celebrated

How many months will Barton need to get this bunch up to speed? Didn't you mean how long will Wael give him? GC with the same backing as Barton's had would have had us in the Championship or at least challenging for promotion. 😂🤣 That made me laugh!

80 mins of struggle and 10mins of excitement and go home happy. Some players way off their game, Grant looked lost at times, Nicholson poor and Coutts was very slow and can not tackle. Bellshaw, Taylor, Evans and Collins played well. Still three points and on to Swindon. UTG.

Got out of jail looked like the only winners would be the monkey hangers, but great win and important month, can we make the play offs, need to string a few wins together, rather do a Darrell and go for it when we are drawing, great last ten minutes.

Just back from the game… my daughters winning run continues! She loved the mascot experience and got to run out with Belshaw who was great with her and enjoyed watching us win again… that’s 2 in 2 for her now! I’ve told her that she’s gonna have to come to every game now! Glad that she had such a fantastic experience as mascot - Belly is great, isn't he? She definitely has to go to every game now - no pocket money if she doesn't do her duty! Well done Ms Bluestickgas Jnr.

Think we’re being a bit harsh, we didn’t look that great but we were obviously lacking abit if match sharpness after so many weeks out. Yeah we looked leggy and a bit disorganised but although Hartlepool were better up until we got some attacking players wide in the final 10 they weren’t miles better. A draw would have been probably a fair result but you’ve got to take your chances and if you do and they don’t you’ll win simple as that. I hate 3-5-2 though. We just haven’t got any players at the club capable of playing as wing backs well yet we’ve got plenty of attacking players capable of playing wide well. Anderson in particular just looks lost as a wing back even though I think he’s probably a decent player for this level if only he was played as a winger on the right or inside forward on the left cutting in. He was a headless chicken today when we didn’t have the ball. We’ve got to keep Nicholson and Evans to have the slightest chance of making the top 7.

Anderson was poor as WB before the enforced break and I thought wasn't even being selected, it's odd with everyone now fit he's been selected in that position again.
Surely Connelly at RB/Anderson at RW is a better option, although not sure where Hoole was today?

Yes we were fortunate to get the 3 points today, but when you consider Kilgour & Grant we’re coming back after long injuries & Loft was making his debut, it was always going to look a bit of a disjointed performance. Given that Hartlepool have just knocked 2 clubs out from higher leagues (Blackpool & Bolton)in the F A cup & the E F trophy it was always going to be a difficult match & I thought their no 8 ( Featherstone) was quality today. Also think with Finley being available again next week after his 3 match ban, should strengthen the midfield as he definitely been missed. Even though it wasn’t a vintage performance I thought Belshaw,Taylor,Collins & Evans all showed what good signings they have been for us this season . I am sure we will play a lot better & lose this season , so let’s enjoy the 3 points & roll on Swindon next Saturday.

Think Finley has to come straight back in against Swindon, like to see Anderton as the left sided cb . Loft had difficult debut il reserve judgement until a few more games .. Connor Taylor, what a great young talent, king pin in the centre of that defence. Collins seems to picked up where he left off.. Belshaws a great find and Evans could play with slippers on! UTG !

Yeah Finley has to come back in. Just worried about the layoff he’s had it’s been about 6 weeks for him hasn’t it? Featherstone for them was our Finley. Played much the same Way.
