On a different note. I thought the ref was half decent today 😄 I liked that he wasn’t going for their tricks of backing in and not even trying to compete for the ball, when our lads were already up for the header. Two or three times that happened. Very rare you see refs at this level make that call, so can tell he’s reffed at the top (when they were half decent)

Thoroughly deserved point. I watched it in the home end, as I’m a Londoner these days, and a few Sutton fans were praising the neat football we were playing and how they could learn lessons from us. Nicholson got positive comments.
The last few minutes reminded me of Scunthorpe the other week in that the defence wobbled so much after not looking in much bother in the second half.

I thought we were well worth that point. Bossed possession though not creating a great deal, I’m glad we stood up to that physical mob of bullies. Not sure if anyone else noticed, but Eliot Anderson copped a smack round the back of the head after laying off a pass in the centre circle. This shortly after their lummox #9 dragged Taylor to the floor long after the ball was seen out of play. Harry Anderson was superb in winning the penalty, a real lost cause that then baited the keeper into a rash decision. Mr dependable never in doubt from the spot, deserved after going close in the first half with that beauty of a free kick. A word on Anssi, the big man certainly redeemed himself late on after a shocker of a decision to come and then stay rooted for the cross that led to their opener. Clear to see we definitely miss our sweeper keeper mopping up behind when needed. Still, onto Oldham. This will prove an even better point if we go and do a job up there as we should do! I don't understand what their goal has to do with being a sweeper keeper. It was'nt a sweeper situation. You can certainly argue he would of been better off staying on his line, but it actually was a superb delivery. Where were our big men to win the headder from said free kick? Was it necessary to give the free kick away in the first place? By the way, anyone got a link to the late saves Anssi made please, not seen them yet?

Sweeper keeper reference to the 4/5 times they played a long ball in behind, with the first touch their lad took was on or near the edge of the box and Anssi was nowhere to be seen. In regard to the goal, an international keeper doesn’t need me to tell him that if you’re going to come for it, get out there and chuck a fist at it at the bare minimum. Don’t back out half way leaving yourself in no man’s land. But I suppose you can forgive a chap after not seeing first team action for 6 months due to injury. Also, the two late saves were superb. One down low to his right pushed well away from trouble, only for them to recycle it and hammer a shot straight into him that he managed to punch away to safety. Even the tiniest nick off of Taylor and it would’ve flown in.
