They put together the fantastic run they have been on because the league is poor and one of the weakest for a few years. It also helps having an experienced manager who has put together a solid, balanced and hard working group of players capable of grinding out results. And that is absolutely everything we don’t have , I said it before and I’ll say it again , This is JBs squad and he pretty much promised promotion out of this league , when the inevitable happens and it’s confirmed we aren’t going up ( which is pretty much now nailed on ) he should resign , no time for niceties as I’m sick of our club always taking one step forwards and two steps back. So we're playing good attractive football with youngsters running their socks off to get things going after seasons of dross served up by Garner, Tisdale, and because we haven't gone up this season you want Barton to resign? Sorry chap but I don't agree with that, at all.

Looking at the rest of L2 sides this doesn't seem a league where any other side plays attractive football.

Think todays game summed up the league, Mansfield have been lauded on here but were very, very ordinary and one wonders how they put together the fantastic run they have been on. We are as good or bad as any team in the division and would need to go on a similar run to Mansfield's to get anywhere near top 7. I see Bolton took 44 points from last 19 games last season , so something like w14 d2 l3, can i see us doing similar, nope, but you never know, it has to start Tuesday! Think i have accepted that we will be here again next season which takes the tension out of the remaining fixtures somewhat, until we win the next 3 and hope springs eternal again! Yeah I didn’t feel tense at all today as I’ve already resigned myself to us not being promoted this year. We’re simply not consistently good enough to get promoted. Let’s just finish as high up as we can and roll on next season. Utg I doubt injuries help, if Belly and Taylor had been fit on Tuesday we might well have won, or at least not lost, When fit Grant, Evans, Rodman and Loft would probably all be in the first 11 if fit with L Clarke a decent option from the bench, as would also be T Clarke/Brown. Knowing our luck they'll all be fit for the last half a dozen games when the season will already be over if we can't start winning games.

First half defensively the side gave nothing away against the form team and with the rain and wind assisting mansfield. Second half we ran the show and if we did have loft or clarke fit with collins playing of them . Then it would have been a home win. Fine lines in this game not helped by a referee who wanted the limelight and a linesman who who didnt understand the concept of a ball going out of play.

It wasn't the best, bit flat, awful weather. Seen worse though. Nice to see Taylor back, the rest of the back 4 did a great job against a team pushing for promotion making sure Belly didn't even have to make a save, all game. First 45 was still better than a lot of the 90 served up by Tisdale and Garner.

This is a very poor season for Rovers so far and I will be very surprised if the club finishes above mid-table. How have the club come on "leaps and bounds"? To not win promotion this year be an absolute failure. The fourth tier is about where the club now belongs. Signing injury-prone players hardly help the cause. We are as unlikely to move up the divisions as having the "elusive" new stadium!

Did you really enjoy the first 45 minutes yesterday? as a defending display with a young back 4 in those conditions I thought it was enjoyable seeing them not give nothing away and stand tall especially hoole who they thought was the weak link but proved them wrong.

Baggins I would stop wasting your time as if we are not playing perfect free flowing attacking football every game then we are crap. People need to remember what happened last season and what league we are in. The football will be of a bad standard at times and if the players we have were top quality then they wouldn't be playing league 2 football. Mansfield are on one hell of a run but we made them look ordinary yesterday and should have won with a blatant penalty. It wasn't attractive but it was a determined committed performance with glimpses of good football. That dosent keep a few posters on here happy but I feel for them and hope they had there fix of great football by watching Match Of The Day last night.

I like the fact you could admire the hard work and the way the back 4 applied themselves to the task in front of them, some fans are only satisfied if they see goal of the season contenders every game or flowing end to end moves, your post rightly points out that there are plenty of other facets of the game to admire even if they may not be so spectacular, after all when these aspects of the game go wrong ,as they did v Oldham, plenty of fans are quick to lambast those involved, only right that when it goes well praise is dished out, well done you.

As Manse would say - "18 to go, you never know".
The dream ain't dead and buried yet.

Should we have gambled and bought on a couple of subs with 15 to go with a tweak to the tactics? After building up Spence during the week should we have put him and Thomas on? There were questions on a thread somewhere about Barton and reluctance to change things.

We’ve got a great squad though just need to keep putting it together and have the rub of the green. Were due some of it with these referees. I’m a dreamer and will be dreaming until it’s mathematically impossible. And no, Rich hasn’t hacked my account 😉
