With the New Years Honours List about to descend upon us I thought perhaps we could put together our very own list of Incredible Gasheads. This was inspired by a lady I met who has been coming to watch the Gas for 70 years, she is 82 now and comes on the bus. She told me of another lady who sits behind her, who lives outside of Bristol and is 99! There are many Gasheads who travel hundreds of miles just for home games, this I have always thought was amazing as well as the many fans who have been home and away for many years. So now is the time to give these extraordinary fans a place on the list. No need to give their full name, just to record the massive effort they have put in to support our club especially so during the last few years. Who do you know who is worthy of the honour? |

Myself, I've been sandwiched between the Blackthorn twins and 3 moaning b*stards all season...
But because I've stood in my spot for about 6 years now I'm reluctant to move!

- A much as I dislike the whole 'Fan's Director' flimflam, you have to applaud the Supporters Club volunteers for their sheer hard work and 'out there'-ness (can't think of the right word - you know what I mean...). They are everywhere on match days, plus here and there on other days. If they didn't do it there would be a huge chasm, and to coin a phrase, 'if it didn't exist someone would have to invent it'.

Whoever signed Stuart Sinclair, and whoever decided to use him as our 'poster boy' for the first game back, especially as he wasn't technically a cult hero then (i think he already was though, from the second he signed...)

I'd also like to nominate all the SC members who work hard for the club on Matchdays selling programmes and 50/50 tickets etc.
They are a credit to the club.

I know but there are a lot more worthy people out there in our history then someone who started a forum or raised 10k if this is about honours. Just saying :-)

as were talking the last 12 months I think jon deserves the recognition to be honest....
it's not like the ffsc was replacing anything, or copying anything, it was an idea drawn from his perception of what he believed people would be interested in and might work.... and it's been made to work with some great initiatives and hard word.... lets not forget it's still a baby of an organisation in terms of it's age and size so financial comparisons aren't really appropriate. that said, the money that's been raised has been a fantastic achievement, and I think we should also rember that the ffsc had it's original platform swept away with little reasoning or warning, so to overcome that challenge deserves a lot of respect....
which brings me on to ras and hugo and others who have helped this platform grow and become successful. I was gutted when the OF shut, but now I don't miss it at all, this is much better....

I'm a little embarrassed and ashamed that this thread has turned this way when it was, after all, supposed to be a way of recognising and appreciating fellow Rovers fans.
I see no need for people to have to justify a nomination nor to down play or bemoan another persons nomination.
This was supposed to be a celebration and thanks to fans who have done something more than just turned up every other Saturday wasn't it?
Very sad.
