Let's try and get the JB dislikers back. ie Support the team/club even if they don't like the manager.Obviously the Stendel thing happened before he joined us and he was found Not Guilty of that incident - however; the incident with his wife reinforces their perception of him and feel that it is not a good look for the club. Therefore they cannot actively support the club under his stewardship because of their own moral code.
That is entirely their right and their decision and their moral code. What does not help is them being dug out by Rovers fans for their dislike of Barton. When they are mocked or when fans gloat at them about our on the pitch success or play down or glorify Barton's reputation then that will again reinforce their decision to stay away. The fanbase is still polarised and, it seems, the better we are playing on the pitch the more toxic some of our fans are off it
Thanks for this sleepygas. Had loads of abuse this week on social media and other fans who have done a lot more then me for the club have had it to. Whilst the numbers of stay away fans is small its nice to have some empathy.
For me it all boils down to the fact the club should have suspended JB as is normal protocol for a domestic abuse charge such as Giggs and Greenwood etc let alone committed whilst also on bail. Rather then take appropriate action the club posted misogynistic and offensive nonsense on the club website www.refuge.org.uk/refuge-statement-on-joey-bartons-court-appearance/.
Our fans also launched her game to which is literally about stopping sexism and misogyny in football. They said absolutely nothing about it either. As someone who has spent 20 years in the arena of trying to stop donestic abuse this was a red line for me. I totally dont expect other fans to have the same level of feeling as me but if there could be some understanding of fans with this view it would be very kind.
Heres hoping that JB is clearly found not guilty and the club can make a sensible comment and we can all move on.
