That almost 2.5k reduction in capacity really makes the push for anew stadium so much more important now. 🤦🏼‍♂️ On the plus side it was quite comfortable in the North Terrace. It was nowhere near as rammed as it has been on previous occasions. They also opened the doors to the bar before the half time whistle - which meant it was easy to grab a pint in the interval.

This reduced capacity will hit us hard in the pockets in the run in. Need to extend the south stand the way across or something to get capacity up. Imagine losing 2,000 on the gate for a few games in the run in. Pretty much losing us ÂŁ50k a game

So is this reduction for "standing" at pitch level ? If so can a row of seats be installed instead ?

Don't we need to allocate a percentage to the away support? And what's the cost to extend any part of the Ground?

IIRC the conference and L2 run ins we contacted the clubs of the away teams to see how many tickets they would sell and either gave them 100 seats in the south and sold the away terrace to home fans or just made the away terrace available to away fans and we utilised all of the south stand.

This was confirmed in a tweet last week by Dave Bright our new Head of Sales. Slightly concerning that he is unaware of our capacity.

Could be this if we used the entire south stand or away terrace as suggested for home supporters Sadly it's not that simple. The overall attendance is set regardless of where fences etc are erected. If you remember that before the South Tent was erected there were no fans there at all. After it was erected our capacity stayed the same as the licensing authorities reduced capacity in other areas of the ground. The one way to increase the capacity by a significant number would be to redevelop the stadium adding additional turnstiles and welfare facilities.

Pretty much losing us ÂŁ50k a game It's apparently impossible to extend the South Stand as all the utility/communication cables run under that part of the ground.

The rugby club once funded the extension of the South Stand but it never increased the capacity. Their reason was to charge more for a ticket and satisfy the demand of their supporters.

Well that’s completely different as we’ve lost a load of capacity due to levels on the terraces being wiped out completely. The turnstiles and welfare facilities are still there from when our capacity was punching 12k. Nothings change in that perspective. This is akin to what we did for the Dagenham game when we gained about an extra thousand as we took back the terraces from them so we could give them to home supporters.

But if Dagenham had hypothetically brought 1000 supporters the attendance would have been the same. I think you are right regarding losing capacity due to the silly tent stuck like a barnacle on the west terrace. As for other reduction, its looks like the licensing authorities have done that for whatever reasons they have stated to the club.

Does anyone know what the attendance was for the Leeds game (0-3 loss I think?) where we gave them the South stand and had home all across the East Terrace including away?

Guess we benefit (when playing teams with larger away support) from not having to use any “sterile” parts of the ground that way, as the stands are already separated, but we will still lose the “pitch level” numbers that have been enforced since and it means nowhere near enough seats for home fans. Been a long time since it’s been a problem though which is a positive
