If we don’t go up automatically the first ten matches 10 points the next 30 matches 56 points says it all

If we don’t go up automatically the first ten matches 10 points the next 30 matches 56 points says it all There's no point now in looking at the past. OMG I have turned into Rich. But the point is we are right in there, along with all the others, and the others will also have had their 'what if we'd won at Stevenage?' moments. Even FGR were starting to get worried until 2 games ago. This fantastic run we are on is never sustainable throughout a whole season. I'm just glad we've got better instead of worse.

Good that Mansfield lost but at least most of the games in hand have now gone. Now it’s 4 straight rounds of Saturday matches where we slug it out with all the others. Then Exeter and Mansfield will have their Tuesday games in hand before the last two weeks. After the next 4 rounds it will probably be down to the last 2/3 teams competing for 3rd position. We just need to win against Tranmere then go again. COYB!
UTG!

Talking about the Tranmere game on Saturday I c the two players sent off on Saturday have had there appeals rejected by the FA and one of them Morris has had a extra ban given

Complete side issue but why don’t Tranmere play home games on Friday nights anymore like they often did in previous years ?

Complete side issue but why don’t Tranmere play home games on Friday nights anymore like they often did in previous years ? Is it because Liverpool, and to a lesser extent Everton, play so often on a Sunday because the TV sponsors make them?

The original idea was to maximise crowds by attracting Liverpool and Everton fans. www.roversrearguard.com/news/iconic-friday-night-football-returns-to-prenton-park/

It will be so frustrating if goal difference prevents us going up automatically! and the points we threw away at places like Colchester Was only thinking this the other day. Colchester away, salford away, tranmere at home when we were 2-0 up, and a rediculously late penalty at mansield. 7 points there!!!

Always remember getting to dislike Tranmere when Saint and Greavesie referred to them as "our friday night favourites" and we'd just lost to them the night before...
Anyway. Another MASSIVE game Saturday. Feels like a must win if we have top 3 ambitions. And a must not lose to keep us on track for play offs. What fun!

If we don’t go up automatically the first ten matches 10 points the next 30 matches 56 points says it all It often takes new squads time to gel and it did with us. The whole match day squad on Saturday apart from Harries who didn’t get on the pitch were new signings this season. Yes the first 10 games were awful but sometimes that happens. Then there was the covid outbreak in pre season too which obviously made things take longer to click. TBF Barton has changed so much in just over a year and he’s got most of it absolutely spot on.

It says a lot about him that he was able to keep these players believing in themselves throughout the bad start to the season, now things are going well he is keeping them focussed with their feet on the ground.

Not a lot of point in the what if's, I agree, we are in with a chance and the teams that hold their nerve will go up. The one area JB didnt succeed is attracting the right striker for this group. That we are still on for play offs at least without one, is a real testament to the rest of the team (including Collins)

So Mansfield and Exeter still have to play 7 games, in less than a month. Mansfield could run out of steam a bit, for the play offs, if they are in them.

The problem is; if we don't go up then there will likely have to be yet another big rebuild over the summer. We may not get Luke Thomas or Connolly back on loan or on a free.. we definitely won't get E.Anderson or Connor Taylor back. Evans and Nicholson could well leave. We could end up in a bit of a cycle unless we can lock down a solid (young) core.. or just have a better pre-season and ensure we are ready to go out of the blocks from the very start next season. **fingers crossed** we can get the job done this season - and what an achievement that would be given our shocking first half of the season.

I’d add keeping Barton to that list as well. He’s proving to be a good football manager and as controversial a character as he is you have to say his 2 teams he’s managed fleetwood and us play a very good brand of football which will catch the eye of a few teams nearer to his home.
