Ah, Sunday after a great Gas win. Sun is out, feel a few beers at the local coming on. Sunday? 👀 Sodding Bank Holiday game has had me out of sync since yesterday Morning. On the flip side for being a knob, the pub opens at 11 and not 12 today! Yesssss.

I think we need a proper song for our superstar Geordie.
To the same tune as the We've got Super Tommy Tuchel/Pat Vieira/David Moyes chants that Chelsea/Palace/West Ham have adopted for their managers.
🎶We've got the Geordie Maradona Magic with the ball at his Feet Left or Right, he's f*cking dynamite The greatest player the World has ever seen🎶
Thought it would be pretty good myself 🤷♂️

I thought the referee had a good game today, we always give stick when they are bad, but thought he let it flow and was fair. Good goal and the result is the main thing. UTG That was the Referee's first League Two game of the season he usually covers Championship matches. We could all see the quality

Great day Great win Good performance I thought. We are just a decent number 9 away from being a top of the league side. I think we would have won the title had we had one/ signed one in January. I havnt seen a side as good as us going forward this season until we hit the final third where we look powder puff. Collins struggled again yesterday
I fear no one in the play offs we can do this. Utg.

9590 the crowd, so even with zero segregation the capacity is now 2000 less than pre covid. Not really fit for purpose. What mattered more was The atmosphere and the noise the gas heads made, everyone was superb today, felt more like 19,000 with all that noise. Would the family stand fit in the gap between the away end and the big screen? Remember at Twerton after City tried to burn it down we had the temporary stand put next to the away end. It could look like that. Could solve a few problems. The nearest house in Alton Road belongs to Rovers, so only one house opposite could complain about right of light but to be fair it is a long distance away and hardly right in their eyeline. There is definitely scope for extra placeds in the away/South Stand area, especially without the extra rugby try area space needed anymore.

How good was Luca Hoole yesterday?
Their winger looked tricky but it was the header he won against Smith at the far post in the first half that really impressed me.
Not many full backs anywhere would have been strong enough with such a good leap to prevent Smith having a free header.

I think that Luca is a bit of an unsung hero, quietly goes about his business and gets the job done. I love the way he always has time for the younger fans too.

Not many full backs anywhere would have been strong enough with such a good leap to prevent Smith having a free header. Yeah he was fantastic. That winger was their best player. I was thinking this earlier the depth of talent we have in this squad is probably the biggest in the last 20 or so years. To have evans, finely, coutts, billy,Anderson, Nicholson ,Thomas is unbelievable for league 2. Then when you think we have hoole grant Taylor connelly anderton belly behind that to name a few it really is absolute quality. The previous promotion teams relied heavily on goals from lambert /Walker Taylor/ Bodin But this side in my opinion has so much more talent to call upon than those previous teams we’re just missing those goalscorers. That bench we had yesterday was unbelievable for league 2.

What a glorious sunny day in Horfield. The Long cold winter has been way too long. The pitch looks immaculate, and The Mem is pretty full.
Really nice to see Gasheads stood opposite me in the old away terrace. The small number of Salford City fans in the east end of the South Stand certainly looked rammed in there, surrounded by noisy Gasheads.
Wonderful noisy fans at The Mem, for the first time I can remember we had singing STARTING in the South Stand. There was a piece of audio heaven for a while, with Irene being sung from the South Stand, then continued from the North Terrace, and back again. Our beloved song reverberated around The Mem in perfect panoramic stereo.
On to the game.
I felt Salford City played really well actually, and for large periods of the game stifled our normal possession game. The first half, especially, they contained us very well and were effective going forward.
It required an alert James Belshaw and a strong referee to keep Salford City at bay. They had at least one decent shout for a penalty. A soft penalty, but they have been given...
Salford were a very good looking side, attacking with pace and an effective aerial attack. We did very well not to concede, a testament to the quality of our defensive unit.
Only Josh Grant struggled defensively, but I like Josh and he adds more going forward. Salford City prevented Josh from making his usual runs up the wing, exposing his weaknesses.
The first half was fairly even in the end, with Salford City the happier going into the break.
I felt we did much better in the second half, and we were able to dominate possession and settled into our normal game which then started asking Salford City questions.
As we approached the last twenty minutes, the game was balanced on a knife edge, in a situation where a draw was no good for either team.
As always this season with this team, they never give up and you hoped that a late winner would come. Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Up steps boy wonder Elliot Anderson with another individual effort to send The Mem into an explosion of limbs and noise. Oh, that goal felt so good!!!!!!
I was slightly uncomfortable with the confrontation between the home fans and the away fans in the South Stand following the goal. Fully understandable, it was a super emotional occasion. Fair play to Salford City, their fans did not bite. Another set of visiting fans could have had a different outcome.
Something for the club to think about, I guess. The segregation zone was minimal. I like the fact that the away fans are limited to the east part of the South Stand.
Massive, massive three points for us, which just about keeps us on the tail of Port Vale. If we can win there on Monday then the automatics are on.
Happy, happy days. UTG!

Bloody hot yesterday ~ not a complaint but why not have more beer concessions open ? Took so long to get a pint.
Enjoyed the game and thought Saltford looked a strong side but we did edge it

Anyone else sporting a tan this morning? Looking like a lobster more like. East Stand, 2nd row, was in it full on from 3ish till 5. My face has a certain, shall we say, glow, to it this morning.
