Winning on Saturday is our only real chance of automatic promotion, if we go all out and lose, which is likely, then we won't achieve that. Despite being bottom of the league, Scunthorpe are not mugs, and are still capable of beating a team throwing too many players forward. We threw plenty of players forward against a good Rochdale side, seemed to do us no harm in our comeback. We lose, and what? We're still in the playoffs. Although we did concede 3 goals, so we'd then need to score AT LEAST 9 goals ourselves.

I'm really intrigued to see our starting 11 Saturday now. I don't think Joey will hold back and we could go all out attack. I don't agree with anyone thinking we could win 6 or 7 nil on Saturday. That simply isn't going to happen and shows a complete lack of respect to Scunthorpe. Approaching a game like that is asking to get beaten. We need to get a couple in front first of course but we needed 7 v alfreton a few years ago and got them. Barnet won of course so it was play offs. But yeah you obviously don’t come out of the traps like that , you get 2 or 3 in front and then go hell for leather. Joey knows , we’re in good hands.

A quite unbelievable set of results. So glad I got me and my lad tickets for Saturday It just feels like the momentum is with us, maybe all those without a ticket should head to Barrow instead?? UTG Let’s hope Skys Soccer Saturday have reporters at all these main league 2 games. What would be the chances of ALL the games being on Sky and they still don't mention the Gas? ?

So I suppose even if we go 1 down it doesn't matter if we win 6 1 or if we go 2 down we need to win 6 2, am I right if Northampton win 1 nill? If that's right we may aswell play will as many strikers as we possibly can Football isn’t like that. We’ll set up as we have done since Christmas ( sh** we wasted half a season playing that wing backs formation) and look to win the match first.

Despite being bottom of the league, Scunthorpe are not mugs, and are still capable of beating a team throwing too many players forward. Exactly, there has got to be a balance. We all remember Dagenham. If we're too open Scunthorpe could grab a goal on the break and make life really difficult for us.
There not eactly getting hammered every week. They've drawn 2 of their last 3 and only lost 2-1 at Bradford, who knocked 4 past Sutton yesterday.
First and foremost we have to win the game. Lets get a couple of goals ahead before we go gung-ho.
I know Barrow are 3rd from bottom of the 'Home' league table but they've only lost 8 of 22 so there is hope; albeit their record against the better sides isn't great.
As things stand, it looks like we're likely to miss out on goal difference which is a bitter pill to swallow, but we'd go into the playoffs in good form.

Christ, poor Port Vale. Odds on for automatic a couple of weeks ago, but now, after 3 straight defeats, they might not even get into the playoffs. While still disappointing, even a draw would have been valuable for them today. What club do you support mate ? Newcastle.

Niels Bohr, the Nobel laureate in Physics and father of the atomic model, is quoted as saying, “Prediction is very difficult, especially if it’s about the future!”. Given everything that has happened over the weekend, surely there will be yet another last minute twist to this. I still predict mayhem at Mem but perhaps it won't be straightforward.

What club do you support mate ? Newcastle. Oh that's right, you're on here following Elliot. Fair play, I'm sure we'll be following his career from a distance from now on too. UTG!

Just a thought, I wonder if Scunthorpe get any bonus money for Loft if we get promoted? I mean I can't imagine it's much even if so but know they are struggling financially. Just thinking out loud.

You say Barrow form against better sides is not too good , but they beat FGR 4-0 at home recently, beaten both Sutton , Swindon at home & Northampton away, so I wouldn’t rule out them of gaining a result Saturday. Also the small away capacity at Barrow won’t do the cobblers any favours, but obviously we got to do our bit first.

Biggest defeats in the league for Scunthorpe this season - 4-0 vs Exeter (H) 6-1 vs Harrogate (A) - (5-0 down at half time) 4-0 vs Tranmere (A) 4-1 vs Sutton (A) 5-1 vs Salford (A) 4-0 vs Mansfield (H) 8-0 vs Bristol R (A) Fixed that for you

When we played Scunny last time we missed so many chances it was unreal. Whilst we put three away and were comfortable for most of the game I don’t think we actually played that well.
Other than 7-0 against Grimsby early on in the season in 14-15 Alfreton had only conceded 4 before they came to the Mem.
It’s the gas so it’s all so bittersweet and I can’t see Northampton losing. My heart says we can put a number of balls into the Scunny net but head says that’s a mad expectation.
But then again, thinking we’d be where we are today would have been considered mad by many back in December. This tale is not finished yet.

Why are we likely to lose if we go all out to win, don't we start most home games with the intention of winning them? Regardless I doubt JB will be reading Gaschat this week in order to get tips on how he should approach the game from fans.
