Just out of interest, anyone know how much we pocket for going up? Think the prize money for third is genuinely only £5k above the basic payments. Each League Two club will receive £472,000 as a ‘basic award’ plus a £430,000 ‘solidarity payment’ from the Premier League. Basic award across the EFL: Championship – £2.084m League 1 – £677,000 League 2 – £472,000 Premier League Solidarity payment across the EFL: Championship – £4.3m League 1 – £645,000 League 2 – £430,000 Figures are from 2019, so may have changed and hopefully gone up a bit since then.

L2 will be tough but, as I said in another thread, the L2-promoted teams did very well this year (Plymouth 7th, Cambs 14th, Chelts 15th, Morecambe 19th) so there's nothing to suggest we can't be a comfortable, mid-table consolidation team at a minimum. I'm cautiously optimistic if we get the recruitment right. I'd be straight on the blower to Eddie Howe regarding keeping Billy for six months at least, and give Evans' reps a call too! Edit: L1 now bitches!!! Plymouth went up the year before. Bolton were the other team that went up, they came 9th, but were quite far off the play offs.

But 9th is still great so just continues to back up my logic I guess.

Derby County Ipswich and Peterborough will challenge for title. Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday will be going for play off places.
Difficult to say until squad is assembled by Barton or Kevin Bond come July.

League One will be tough next season, but I take considerable hope from Accrington, Plymouth and Oxford, who, in my opinion, have similar resources to ourselves. They have all finished mid table or higher this season. I truly believe that anything is possible under JB.

Love this. Motivational read. A CEO talking about 4 goals and aiming high. Some of us have been waiting years for this ambition for our club. No one is talking about consolidation in this management team. Winners aim high and this will attract the very best to join our journey. It’s not just the manager but the whole management team that is making this happen. Happy Days ahead as we aim for automatics again.

Think Joey will work his magic again in the loan market, we will be trusted by Newcastle and Stoke with some young talent.
I'm sure he has a list of targets that he will pursue.
Wael will want us to be competitive next season, we will have to start better than this season, but I am quietly confident we will have a decent season.

Rovers and Bolton both finished bottom.of league one and got promoted the following season in third place.
Be interesting to play them next season as well as Derby County

Without Elliott, we would not have made the play offs.
To get two loan signings of a generation in one season is amazing, but I don't think it is so easy.
As it stands expect about 16th next season.
All depends on how much Wael spends.

As soon as the final whistle went, I said we will go for it again next season, it's in Joey's DNA.

A lot on here have never given Joey credit for getting Fleetwood to the playoffs in League one the season before he came to us. No reason he can't do it again with us.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, some much bigger clubs in L1 than the last time we got promoted. It will be tough

I think the problem with recruitment is that we lucked in with two creative players that are miles above league 2 and two very talented young centre backs who gelled really well and played far above what you would expect for their amount of experience.
If we can keep Evans and Connolly then who knows, but I fear we may lose all four.
I also have a nagging doubt about whether Coutts and Whelan (who have both been brilliant) will be as effective in league 1, purely because of age and injuries catching up. At Fleetwood in League 1 their performances were mixed, according to their fans.
Recruitment will need to be spot on again, but let’s be honest, Barton did an unbelievable job with this in the last two windows so as we have learned recently, anything is possible.

Belly Hoole (New) Connolly Grant Coutts Thomas Evans Finley Hazza Collins
Reckon this side could compete for top half, maybe play offs. Need a No.9 too maybe as well as good cover for Couts and Hoole and CBs

But as an alternative view, Coutts and Whelan don’t depend on pace to be effective, never have done. They are very good at reading a game and with a full pre-season behind him (which he didn’t get last year) he would be ok imo. JB will recruit well, it’s one of his strengths and I expect a couple of very good loans though they may well be unknown. Evans has thrived here, I hope he knows it. I wasn’t that aware of him when at Crewe last season so perhaps he’s one for which we are a good match. With him I wonder if it’s more the geographical position, he’d prefer to be back up north and I could imagine someone like Bolton making him an offer. I suspect JB will try and sell a 2 year contract to him with a promise to let him go after a year if he wants to. Istr JB saying back along that if players don’t want to stay he wasn’t too worried because there will always be players who want to play for him and BRFC. I just think recruitment will be on his terms like most other areas of BRFC atm!

Massively unimpressed with the L1 playoff games.
Was expecting a lot more tbh.
