Well done DC , never been so happy to see another club apart from Rovers win a game of football & they certainly deserved it.

I planned to stay away from the forum until July but as I can empathise completely with just how DC is feeling right now I would like to congratulate him and everyone connected with Port Vale for their promotion. Thank you Carol Shanahan for giving DC and his family for the support he desperately needs in these terrible circumstances - Best wishes DC for next season and enjoy the holiday with your family you so deserve.

Fair play to DC. Was pretty ambivalent about the result on football terms but on a personal level, fantastic. Look forward to crossing paths again in league one.

A sad but positive post. Knowing that others have shared the same pain really can help people get through the toughest of times. My Mum once took a lady to one side who had sadly lost a son in his 20's and told her of her experience of losing both a son and daughter prematurely in adult age. The woman always tells me, now that my Mum has now passed on, that her words of comfort and strength helped her through some dark days. I truly hope that your days get brighter every day.

Absolutely delighted for DC and Port Vale. I was rooting for them after we secured autos, as I do and always will wish Darrell all the success in the world, he deserves it. To have been through what he and has family have, and show the sort of courage, leadership and professionalism to get Vale over the line is truly inspirational. Legend is a word that is often devalued by it's overuse, but DC is a genuine Gas legend, and a real hero.

Just seen that DC has been fined £500 for his actions that resulted in a red card against Swindon in the play offs. Can't see that spoiling his after promotion celebrations.

More like a token gesture than real punishment and so it should be, given his near immediate apology and showing real contrition. That is more than fair as I see it

Yet was still allowed on the touchline at Wembley, which I dont understand after a manager sending off. Final or not you miss the next game at least

Port Vale fans (and probably some Gasheads too) have had a whip round to cover it already: www.gofundme.com/f/darrell-clarkes-fine-helping-family

Please see this as a positive post to help aid with the funding for his family. If people want a better understanding of what DC and his family have endured, Ellie Ckarke’s coroners report is available online. With this insight you can truly unnderstand his need for time out with his family to grieve and try to come to terms with the shock and disappointment and probable anger and frustration with others over her death. He must truly feel let down by those who are there to support us all. When I lost my son a few years ago I struggled with the anger that there were people there that could have saved my son by chose to do nothing. I know this blame did hold back my grieving process. In DC’s case it gives understanding to his actions on the touchline with the Swindon player for which he instantly apologised for. The football powers along with his PortVale employers have shown amazing compassion and support to him along with the wider football community which should be remembered when we are often quick to judge. Bristol City and Bristol Rovers supported me as did many other major major sportspeople when I lost my son which I will always be grateful for. I’m sure the support DC and his family received enabled his return to football and whether you believe in God or not I’m sure there was a power to see him guide this team home to L1. I saw DCs face crumple when he realised his team was going to win the final and speak to those Powers I I’ve that had helped him achieve this dream for Ellie. God bless you Darrell RIP Ellie Are you sure you are looking at the right coroners report as the only one I can find is for a 'Ellie-May Clark' and was dated 2018?

It all seems ghoulish to me as, when i had the deaths of my 2 eldest brothers and my parents, i had people phone, e-mail and more, all asking the same damned thing. I ended up losing the plot and going mad at certain people and i can definitely understand outbursts of anger. People never understand until they lose someone themselves, the last thing you wish to do is to go through every bloody detail. If the family wish to remain quiet about it then i can fully understand and i will certainly not be looking it up

Probably insensitive to ask the bereaved if hey haven't volunteered it though.

I know this isn’t about me so i don’t wish to make it so but i agree that it’s natural, i can only say that i found it incredibly insensitive when it was the only thing most wished to know. I saw what it did to my parents in burying a son and it’s something that you don’t forget

Assuming an Inquest is required I can't see one will have taken place so soon, I sense from their comments the OP is confusing Ellie May Clarke's Inquest with DC's daughters. I'm not sure Gaschat is the right place to be discussing the cause of death anyway, unless it becomes general public knowledge at some point in the future.

Following time to reflect I’ve deleted my post. I know it’s been quoted and don’t know if the mods can do anything about that

Given what DC has done for Vale, do you think that he’s been given free tickets for the Robbie Williams gig at Vale Park tonight?
