It makes you wonder how bad his hip injury is if the pain killers he took then hid the fact he'd bust a bone in bis foot, or he's just a hard b.....d!

Stress/hairline fractures can happen to anyone at anytime anywhere, in most cases simply by planting your foot to the floor mid walk/jog/run. Just one of those things.

Couldn't make it up, people implying 'injuries happen just one of those things', are the same people slagging off Alex Rodman & Alfie Kilgour (sorry, Kilgore) for being injured! 😵💫
Make your mind up hahaha!

It looked more like eight inches to me. Something my partners have never said to me.

Think I'll stick up for the club and the player here. No doubt we did our homework on him, did the relevant checks at the quarters, we have all the latest kit there to check the power in players legs and muscles and we also would have sent players for scans if they'd had issues with past injuries like hamstrings or ligaments, just to see if there’s anything still there. If anything bad flags up on them then its a no. Gibbons has done a full pre-season and played every game in that time, saturday / tuesday and has looked one of our best players in the opening 2 league games. Having seen him play in 4 games now (thats including pre-season) he looks like a player who puts himself about and puts his body on the line.
No one can go out to play football and be able to prevent themselves breaking a bone, its part of the games thats unavoidable and can happen. To me thats just outright bad luck. Looking back on his Port Vale history he got a bad hamstring injury 2 years ago and the turned his ankle in March this year. I think I'd be more concerned if he was out with another hamstring injury with us. Sometimes breaks happen and its part and parcel of the game unfortunately. Port Vale fans can take the **** all the like on social media, to me thats very odd considering a. hes a local lad who came through with them, b. they were gutted he left, c. I had the BBC Staffordshire local radio on when I was sitting in Burtons car park last week and they had fans ringing in afterwards saying they hadn't replaced him and he shouldn't have gone, even a co-commentator criticised the club for not doing enough to keep him. So they know hes a good player and I think we do too. But you can't make any allowance for someone breaking a bone.
On the other hand we also have Rossiter who hasn't had a full pre-season because of a niggly muscle injury, plays one game and breaks down with his hamstring, that kind of stuff is more concerning to me than players breaking bones which they can't help happening.

Spot on … no way anyone could have foreseen this injury. Some of the Burton challenges were awful … thought they were lucky to get away with only one Red card.

Could’ve easily seen 3 take an early walk, two in the first half! One on Collins early doors was fully on the ankle.

PV apparently only offered him a pay per play type contract, as they were concerned about his fitness record, we poached him by offering him a straight 2 years contract and now he's out for up to 3 months. Why couldn't JB just find a RB without injury concerns, as surely RB is one of the easier positions to fill.

If the medical tests and all the stuff they do with scans didn’t show up any issues then why not sign a player? I don’t believe we’d sign any player with a potential issue that’s been flagged in that medical. We can’t help a player breaking bones in a game. No amount of rehab, prehab or conditioning can stop that. It’s just an unfortunate thing that could happen to anyone isn’t it.
