I never said all 70,000 would be heading home individually to 70,000 different houses - that was you making an assumption about what I was assuming. You probably understood the point I was making but as usual you are seeking to make an argument out of nothing. I guess the only surprise is that you haven’t tried to make an argument about my incorrect knowledge of Old Trafford’s exact capacity. Eric, I for one think your post required no argument. It was just commonsense, something that some on here clearly lack. Common sense suggests the whole point of playing in day light hours was to save the club money not cut down on electric use generally.

You really need to understand how forums work, simply replying to a post is not arguing, if you don't want posters to reply then why bother posting anything in the first place. 🤣🤣🤣

I’m no expert but surely it would make sense to stick solar panels on the roofs of the stands? Win win? will canvas support solar panels? 😂 brilliant!

Mansfield starting a home match at 1300 hours in October.
Mansfield become the first EFL club to move a match forward to reduce lighting and heating bills amid the cost of living crisis - with their League Two clash vs Walsall on October 15 to kick-off at 1pm - and more are expected to follow suit.
The EFL, consisting of clubs from English football's three lower professional divisions, are set to discuss the possibility of early kick-off times as a possible solution to the cost of living crisis next week, an idea which gathered pace when a survey on Wednesday revealed many of them would support it.
Over 60 per cent of the 40 clubs asked by Fair Game, which included a dozen from the EFL, said they would consider bringing kick-off times for Saturday league matches and FA Cup ties forward in an attempt to reduce bills for lighting and heating.

In the 70's Sunday football was introduced to replace night games due to the power cuts. We had a generator at eastville for football and greyhound racing in them days

Slightly off topic but I see Plymouth are playing Ipswich on Sunday with a 12.30 ko, no consideration for travelling fans, and I guess plenty put off by an early ko,unless there is a reason I don't know about?

I'd be up for this. Much prefer noon kick offs anyway.

So the clubs save electricity. The fans (70,000 if it’s Man U). are then at home earlier where they will stick their lights and tv on. The clubs would save money but the wider uk electricity demand would increase. Why are you assuming every football fan lives alone? I doubt Man U are worrying about the lecy bill anyway. How did you come to that conclusion from the post you replied to, please ?

Will the EFL change the rules regarding iFollow as currently cannot be shown if kicking off between 2.45 & 5.15 on a Saturday, but if early kick off's become the norm will they amend the times?
Allowing fans to watch at home, will help clubs with cash flow during what will no doubt be a difficult winter, as well it will help fans who may not be able to afford match day prices and the cost of getting to a match and should be seen as a win win.

With clubs like many in tiers 1 and 2, only the clubs that have tumbled out of the highest leagues can probably still not have to think about the electricity. It is good housekeeping to look at the spend and cut your cloth accordingly

Money talks and if enough teams go this way then i would bet the iFollow would change their times.

And have today rearranged a home league game for a Tueday night 1945 kickoff.
