Fulham winger Sylvester Jasper, who made just six substitute appearances for Bristol Rovers in League One, has denied Barton's reasons for his early return to west London Joey Barton has confirmed that Bristol Rovers have sent loanee Sylvester Jasper back to Fulham after the winger declared to him he was unhappy over his lack of first-team minutes.
Jasper signed for the Gas on summer transfer deadline day and has made six substitute appearances in League One, playing 80 minutes in total, and two starts in the EFL Trophy, including against Swindon Town on Tuesday night.
In the wake of that performance the 21-year-old appears to have communicated his frustration to Barton with a lack of first–team involvement and Rovers have made the decision to send him back to west London after just seven weeks. Bristol Live understands that the loan has not been formally terminated but there appears no way back for the winger who, in a social media post, has appeared to deny Barton's version of events.
“He wasn’t happy with the minutes he was getting and he’s gone back to Fulham,” Barton said, following Rovers’ 2-2 draw with Plymouth Argyle at the Mem. “He’s obviously got disappointed and if you’re not happy… crack on. We’ve got Scott Sinclair, we just keep moving forward. We’ve made the decision.
“I get when people aren’t playing, they get disappointed. I mean, Josh Coburn was disappointed he’s not playing today, we’ve probably got eight-nine lads disappointed they’re not playing but you’ve got to channel that into performance and what you can’t do is allow the outside world to see that disappointment.
“We’re moving really fast here and if you want to be part of this, then you’ve got to buy into it absolutely. If not then you can crack on and there are 91 other professional clubs you can go and play for.”
But a few minutes after the club tweeted confirmation of Jasper's exit due to a frustration over a lack of minutes, he replied on the social media platform, he replied with the message: "That's not the reason why I'm back at Fulham. However, I want to thank everyone involved at Bristol for their support during my time there, and I wish the club all the best for the future." Jasper’s departure has also coincided with the arrival of Scott Sinclair on a short-term deal until January with the 33-year-old making his second debut for the Gas with an appearance off the bench in injury time against Plymouth.
That was Sinclair’s first competitive game since the end of April, when he was still under contract at Preston North End, and as Barton indicated through the week, Rovers’ new No7 will need time to get up to full match speed.
Sinclair effectively took Jasper’s place in the matchday 18, with Barton claiming the former loanee’s attitude ran contrary to the team spirit and character he’s built and will continue to develop at the Gas.
“We have an ethos and principles here and if those aren’t respected then we don’t want you in our football club,” Barton added. “He’s a talented boy, he’ll have a decent career and he’ll learn valuable lessons. It’s been explained to Fulham the reasons why and we wish him well. He had a couple of cameos for us but we have a lot of good players here and we haven’t got time to waste on disappointment.”

Barton said jasper wasn’t happy with the minutes he was getting. Shame as I think he could of done well if he’s stuck at it.. Jasper has said that wasn't the reason he returned to Fulham. No point saying that wasn’t the reason if he isn’t prepared to give his reason.

Yes, I just seen his response to a tweet by rovers saying: That’s not the reason I’m back at Fulham, but would like to thank everyone at Bristol. (I’m unsure how to post photos sorry)

The last paragraph on Joeys statement about the lad says it all for me. I wish Sylvester well in the future although I find his denial of the first reason given very telling when you read Joeys full statement.

Nothing sinister in this, with Rovers squad now looking stronger as players get fit and return from injury there are always going to be disappointed members of the squad, managers have to make these calls all the time, i would imagine he will get another loan somewhere else, good luck to the lad.

He can't get another loan now until January.

Don’t know the lad, as with any job you have to respect your colleagues and your Line manager.
Of course you should be allowed to voice an opinion or state your case for what ever you feel maybe unjust.
However for me this has got Premium League Diva written all over it, thinking I’ve already made it and take to social media to tell the world.
I have a feeling his attitude will kill his career not his talent.

Quite astonishing he chooses to go back to Fulham’s under 21’s, rather than stay with a league club and train and fight for a place in the squad and on the bench.

Can't comment about toys or anything, won't judge him or Barton on that.
However what I can judge him on is his performances which IMO weren't up to L1 standard. Wish him well though, just didn't work out on this occasion

Good for an impact sub against a tired defence. Not a starter at league 1 level. Next stop national league.

Your right if he is lucky enough to find a manager to take a chance on talent over attitude. Even at Western League and Southern League level, more and more managers are looking for the right fit and attitude. Which I think is a great thing. After all, I know this will bring a massive jeezzzz. But there is no I in Team. (Sorry)

I wonder if Sinclair coming in had anything to do with it. Got it in one. Probably a bit of that and a couple of other things too. Which is fair enough. Sometimes things don’t work out. Could be homesick Probably not happy with minutes on the pitch Perhaps Barton thinks he doesn’t work hard enough , Joe is like DC in that respect , having skill and pace isn’t enough alone which again I respect. We move on and good luck to Jasper.

Going out on loan isn't just about getting minutes it's about training with the first team gaining knowledge from more experienced players. Youngsters at prem and championship rarely train with the first teamers. Sounds like he thought he was better than he was and threw his toys out the pram as for the Twitter comment he's just trying to save face.

I suspect Joe has changed his original formation plans for the season.
I suspect he may have been looking at 3 at the back. A diamond 4 in front of them With a front 3.
A front 3 allows for having Collins,Marquis, loft, coburn,Saunders,Anderson and Jasper in the squad.
The current formation based on a back 4 with 3 midfield. A midfield/attack link player and 2 strikers leaves little opportunity for a winger type of player. Jasper became surplus to needs and he probably realised it.
Good luck to the lad and thanks for your contributions.
