I can see that forum going out of existence soon, no great loss 💙 That’s a tad spiteful purdown. I’m surprised. Lets be honest not everything is about how big or busy or successful things are. If it was then we may all be supporting a different club. Blimey after a great day and a great win some are happier to have a go at other gasheads! Crazy. UTG!

Whats happened to Evans he is a shadow of the player he was last season Whilst there's no doubt he's not as good as last season I like yesterday how he out himself about. It's almost as though Joey has said to him "Antony lad, I know you are struggling for form and if you can't find that just go out there and give your all on the pitch and compete for everything". I thought he impacted the game in a different way to what we are used to. He's turned into a proper Joey and Rovers player. I couldn't imagine the sh** doing that to a player like Anthony Evans. They'd have all the flashy technical stuff in the odd game but none of the battle hardened stuff that we have here.

Posted this in the other forum and for once, agree with myself. 😁 Every single one of our lot was superb today. There was nobody who (again) let us down. There's more unity in this squad than any I have had the pleasure to watch. They play for us, themselves, Joey and their own integrity. There's not one player in the entire squad who steals a living. We more than deserved that win today and I feel proud to be a Rovers supporter yet again tonight. You soppy old blouse.

A fantastic performance. Interesting listening to the Peterborough commentary and their views on us. Some expected comments about the crowd (and ball boys) having an influence on the referee, they also questioned the red card. But perhaps the most surprising was their views on Antony Evans' performance. They felt he ran the midfield to the point that Peterborough couldn't deal with his workrate and quick feet, they also felt he performed better than Finley today. Makes me wonder whether Evans' play goes unnoticed by us, as we're more used to seeing quality passing and finishes (which he's lacked lately) and overlook the other side to his game. Regardless, probably the best team performance of the season imo and a well deserved 3 points I'm one of his biggest fans but their comments are baffling, although he was a lot better today. Anthony Evans is a confidence player and at the moment he is short in that department. He is not hiding however and his work rate has improved so much this season but he is not taking players on or shooting with the same belief that he had last season. He broke through at one point but just took one touch too many as he was trying to make absolutely sure that he hit the net - the Evans of last season would have scored . JB will persevere however and hopefully the goal will come that will transform him in the same way that Collins was after the Oxford game. I would love to know how often Evans and Collins interpass during a game as they are obviously good mates and look for each other constantly. It was also evident that Evans is forming an understanding with Sinclair and that should develop more over the next few games.

Just got back..
I thought an entertaining game yesterday, we defended high up, nullified most of their attack opportunities and took one of our many chances to win a good game and give everyone something to chat about with a smile around the Sunday roast table.
Our mid was awesome. Beautiful move for the goal. I thought Evans calibration with his crossing and passing (especially from dead ball) mostly left a lot to be desired, he certainly hasn't found his wizardry from last season, but more than made up with his physical presence, tackling - sometimes more horizontal than vertical! - and support to make the triangles to get angles for crosses.
Our front running was excellent in second half, low tempo in first, but this appears to be where we are with our game management atm.... Coburn is unplayable. They just couldn't handle his forward running, holding ball up and aerial flick on threat without fouling him - for a change a foul or two was awarded to him - even though I thought sending off was harsh at the time.
Aaron does what Aaron does....defences must be scared of his running at them, and what a wonder to see.
Rossiter and Finley, the latter threaded through balls are a delight, but both blend and their engine pumps a potent front line of 4 or 5 sometimes - watch the goal replay and count how many of our players in their box as ball hits net.
Loving SS atm.... he's really paying back the fans. Even if he didn't score, if you just keep your eye on his play, his control which gives him more time, his trickery, his awareness of where to be and when to time his runs, he's awesome and can see he's been coached at the highest level.
But, for me, I like defences.... and apart from Thommo who managed to do something quite extraordinary in first half death, heading ball out in front of an open goal, him Connolly and Gibson kept Marriott quiet.... someone next to me didn't even realise he was playing until he was subbed! Gibson....my unsung hero m o m had puko in his pocket. So much so, that on our East side when the ball was played up, Gibson checked him , checked him again and blocked this fast no11 and constantly got a boot in to break up his play - he was subbed at half time - tactical - so Gibson won that battle, methinks.. And coulda shoulda scored with double chance ending in his blaze over the bar in 6 yard area!?
One mention to Gordon, whom I like, but we now know he can't head. I'm thinking he a bit of a weak link. I really think there's something there, but maybe confidence is holding him back....too many times he was played in flank positions where you were willing him on but it became predictable to cut inside, slow up or pass back....his tempo grew as game went on, and I thought he presented a good performance as he ably supports the front running players and remarkably finds space. He's not frightened of the ball, I just wish he would try to go past his opponent some time. I know he's not an out and out winger,. Defensively I'm left a little baffled although he def needs more support.
Peterborough probably hampered by Wednesday/Saturday lethargy put in a below par performance, we didn't see the best of them, still looked dangerous at times but I think our more fresher, revitalised energetic performance deservedly beat them man for man and formation for formation....well done JAB for getting this one right against credible promotion candidates.... and did anyone notice, no subs in real game time?

But come on purdown no forum is defined by one poster you’ve had problems with. Is it? All forums have that ‘one poster’. I too have had issues with one poster on there but there are far more on there with whom I can have a genuine exchange of views and discuss Rovers and wider football stuff. In the last 2/3 days I’ve had two decent conversations with posters on there. All genuine gasheads and able to have a decent conversation with. A sense of proportion needed perhaps? 😉 As to them talking about this place, over the past few months they have done that less and less compared to this place talking about them. It’s far more common on here than there atm. Several good posters have posted in this thread and are on there. I just don’t get this need to criticise other forums. There is room for all views and conversations about BRFC. I would miss that forum and the posters on there if it weren’t there and I was just surprised that you said such a thing. It’s definitely spiteful but you have a different view. And every right to that view. UTG!

Good read o2.👍 I agree with most but reading their forum someone else brought up the playing Saturday- Tuesday-Saturday thing and others say it is an excuse. I don’t know but I always get the impression that we seem to be one of the fittest sides I’ve seen and certainly last season that playing routine worked for us and allowed us to get back into contention in the late Winter and Spring. I think it suits us playing more, as long as it’s not a relentless schedule of every week. But it allows us to get momentum. Salford who they played midweek had a complete ‘mare yesterday so perhaps there is something in it. UTG!

They certainly looked off the pace but credit to our lads for their fitness. Didn’t even need subs. They also had illness in the camp so probably off peak. Good time to play them but doesn’t take anything away from how well we played

It was a superb team performance yesterday and performances are improving every week. For me the biggest factor to all this is getting Beefy back and being able to play 3 at the back which I believe is Joeys preferred formation. We look so much more of a solid unit and it releases players like Finley forward which then makes our press even more threatening. I think we need one more CB in January as i dont think Alfie is good enough to play out from the back, rumours Connor Taylor maybe available for loan,we are a serious threat for a run at the play offs especially if Coburn and Sinclair see out the season. Skybet are offering 100/30 we finish in the top half and as a love a little punt I think that's amazing odds.

UTG Finley is the closest we have had to a Holloway (of that era) since maybe Stuart Campbell. That's a really good shout! A recognisable style. He obviously needs the right midfield partner to help express himself, and Rossiter offers that optimum blend. What I find surprising is, he's almost a discovery!? I can't recall anyone noticing his contributions for other clubs before? Hardly unnoticed? Wasn't touted as influential on matches as he's turning out to be?

UTG! They (Posh) played at Salford on Wednesday night in a televised FA Cup game so the scenario is not dissimilar to our televised Weds night heroics at Sheff Weds followed by a very jaded performance on the Saturday at Derby. Both Posh and us had two away games with very little rest between - although ours was tougher. It has to have had an effect imho
