It's interesting to note that the matchday thread for this 'tin pot', much maligned competition which no one cares about has generated nearly as much response as recent high profile league games, could it be that the lure of a Wembley final still has the ability to stir the emotions ?

During league games most of us are there, not at home posting on Gas Chat!

How the hell can that be a red ? The only way i can see it is by being the only player before goal but that is the softest red i have seen at the mem.

That sounds positive. From my end of the east terrace just looked like he’d missed the ball in front of the open net. Fingers crossed Rossiter hasn’t aggravated his knee - he’s become one of our most important players in the last few months. Hopefully he’s ok or just out sat . It sounded like he’d rolled his ankle from comments on here and thought he could be out for weeks . Fair play for going tonight , you must be mad ! 😂👍 It was rather cold !! Interestingly, looking back on last nights Rovers Twitter feed they also thought he’d just landed awkwardly and joked about “only he knew how he’d missed the open goal”. Having now watched the highlights JB was right in that the defender did appear to catch him - looked like they were a distance apart from the terrace angle I had. Hopefully, an impact injury rather than a rolled/sprained ankle will see a quick recovery as we can afford to lose him.

Last season the draw for the quarter-final stage took place live on Talksport on 6 January 2022 with games taking place during the week commencing 24 January.
So the draw might be after the two matches still to be concluded.
Key dates for latter stages of the competition
Quarter-finals: January 11
Semi-finals: February 1
Final: March 19

Watched in iFollow last night. Very impressed with Marquis & Hoole last night. Both done extremely well. MK Dons look like relegation fodder, worse than a lot of L2 sides I watched in the Mem last season. Injury’s are a worry but that’s why we have a squad. Onwards & Upwards.

Someone might know the law better than me, but I think it’s given as a red because he’s the last man, stopping a goal scoring chance and is not going for the ball. It may be debatable looking at the footage, whether he would have got on to the ball anyway, though. In my opinion it shouldn’t have been given as we were out of sight in the game and it would make no difference to the outcome. Surely if there’s the smallest bit of doubt, just don’t give it in that circumstance? Luckily, Kilgour’s not going to start the next match anyway.

Have to be in control of the ball for it to be deemed stopping a goal scoring chance. In this case would suggest he was not therefore not a red. This is why the French player got a yellow giving away the penalty against England.

The Quarter Final draw of the Papa Johns Trophy will take place live on TalkSPORT on Thursday 15 December on the Jim White and Simon Jordan show.
Taking place at approximately 11:45am, White and Jordan will be joined by two-time EFL trophy winning manager Kenny Jackett, who won the competition in 2006 with Swansea City, and also in 2019 with Portsmouth after a thrilling penalty shootout victory against Sunderland in front of a record crowd of over 85,000 at Wembley Stadium.
Jackett’s former side Portsmouth advanced from the Round of 16 following a 3-0 victory against Stevenage last night, whilst Bolton Wanderers, Lincoln City, Accrington Stanley, Cheltenham Town and Bristol Rovers also confirmed their place in Thursday’s draw.
Two Round of 16 ties are still to be played, with Salford City hosting Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle welcoming AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 December, respectively.
The Quarter Final draw numbers can be found below:
1 Accrington Stanley 2 Bolton Wanderers 3 Bristol Rovers 4 Cheltenham Town 5 Lincoln City 6 Portsmouth 7 Plymouth Argyle or AFC Wimbledon 8 Salford City or Port Vale The Quarter Finals are scheduled for week commencing 9 January.

Red card bans only count for games played in this competition. We may well wish to have Alfie in the squad for the next round, given that some people are complaining about JB "risking" our better players in the Pizza Trophy. Alfie has certainly lost his way at the moment, although I think the way that you've chosen to express your views is rather disrespectful, given his previous efforts for the club.

The perfect boycott for next round 👍

Tilly's Thighs, Red card or no it is yet another case of MK Dons causing us no problems whatsoever- Kilgour appears and within minutes we are caught by a simple ball over the top with Kilgour ball watching as usual. Unfortunately one of our own that has now for a long period been not good enough for this level or probably League 2 as well. A move to a National League side would seem very likely and probably when the window opens.

I witnessed the Bromley right side player run circles around Gordon. Thomas distribution from the back as been poor at times . Even reliable Connolly have looked both weak and lacking pace. And Gibson who played at championship level looks inconsistent. Gibbons and Hoole will make Robbie Pethick crossing look decent. To blame Alfie is unfair in a shaky defence. Our front line IMO is one of the best in a long time with Collins Sinclair Coburn Marquis Saunders etc . They have been terrific and papers over a poor defence which is the worst in leauge one. Alfie is as good as any of our defenders and is being singled out unfairly.

Good to see Marquis looking better as we may well need him if Collins is injured and Lofty's return doesn't seem imminent.Gibbons did well.Where do we stand with Finley? Injured ,suspended? ? Pivotal player.

Pivotal player. Out injured after a collision with Clarke in training, the latter out for a couple of months, Finley just short term🤞 Rossiter might also have to have a spell on the side lines. No idea what's going on with Loft, as he seemed to recover from his hamstring injury but has disappeared again since picking up just a virus.
