What about the shot he spilled to the striker who, fortunately, was offside? Yes, he made a mistake - but not so surprising when having to deal with the idiot 'fans' behind him! Yet if you analysed Belshaw's performances this season there have been too many shockers to remember! I notice you fail to mention the to great saves Balcombe made - neither of which I would have expected Belshaw to make. He punched around half the crosses you'd expect a competent goalie to catch. Generally his punching has been good over the games he has played. He has a good reach to get over the top o both defenders and attackers. Belshaw has a tendency to stay on his line in these situations and hope the defenders clear - very risky with our current defence. It seems quite a few on here don't understand the goalkeeper position. Yes he made a mistake with the bounce but many a keeper has done the same. Shame our defence just stood there and watched whilst Burton striker gambled and was nearly rewarded. We lose that game by more if Belshaw is in goal as he dosent make some of the saves Balcombe made and the kicking is what he coached to do in the warm up as we don't have a target man and have to kick out wide. When he did kick down the middle it just ran through to the keeper as noone was there to head it. When the defender won the header we second to the ball in midfield everytime and there lies the problem everyone starts to blame the keeper. I don't understand what fans want as when Belshaw was in goal we played tippy tappy slow football from the back and the shouts in the Thatchers is just kick it forwards. Noone really knows what Belshaws kicking is like as he tends not to go long. Is Balcombe an improvement no he is no better. Will he be a better keeper than Belshaw in the future undoubtedly it a yes he will more than likely play at a higher level. Ummmm🤔🤭🤭🤭

So come on if you are such a goalkeeping genius tell me what I have said that is so wrong. Instead of putting stupid emojis as a reply maybe comeback with a decent response so maybe we could debate.

Football is all about opinions - team formation & selection, management, ownership. This forum is also about opinions, but the bickering and personal insults devalues it.
So, my opinion - while respecting others may feel differently.
JB has been given a free reign across the club, he will do it his way. As a player, he was uncompromising. He carried that trait into his managerial career. His style means that he is a divisive character.
IMHO - bringing in a young "on loan" keeper to replace last season's Player of the Year (who I feel is a proven, quality keeper and is well respected by team mates & supporters) and accepting the condition that he HAS to start the first 3 games rather than earn his place ... is a decision that has serious implications both in the changing room and on the terraces.
However, it is typically Bartonesque - controversial, divisive, inflammatory.
Question - is such a decision good management?

Who was in goal for the 5 games that took us up to 4? points off of playoffs? Who's been in goal for the last 5 games that's seen us take 1 point from 15 and conceded 10 goals?

Definitely conceded less. By the way, he isn’t our gk, Thank F##k. Worse since kell Roos.

Against Ipswich a guy next to me gave collins loads of abuse after his first touch then walked off and never saw him for the rest of the game. Some people are very odd.

Young and inexperienced (and inexpensive!) when he was with us, he looked good, made a mistake then had the jitters. But time will say he is a good keeper. Still relatively young for a keeper but has played quite a few times in a top championship team and in the top division in Scotland. If he was in between the sticks now he would be totally different animal. The mistakes will either break Balcombe, or given time will make him. That is how it is with young players, that is why as soon as we get safe, I would bring Jed Ward, Lawrence, Jones etc back into the squad, so they have the opportunity to get first team experience and the safety net of possibly making mistakes that are not crucial.

It's not working with Balcombe.

Belshaw is (in my opinion) a far better keeper than Balcombe is at the moment. Yes, Balcombe may grow into a better one but our crisis was for defenders and midfielders. We didn't need another keeper. This issue is the sole responsibility of Barton and totally unnecessary. Having said that, Balcombe was our keeper on Saturday and we should get behind him. It's got nothing to do with him about who is picked on the day. Yes, he made mistakes but worse ones were made by the defence and theirs resulted in the goals.

You've blamed Belshaw for pretty much everything else so about time you recognised the fact that we're losing pretty much every game with Balcombe in goal.

Imo Balcombe is unfortunately not good enough. Belly was player of the year last season for a reason, and this year he has been good, a lot better than Balcombe.

I’ve got to say it ( sorry folks ), those chanting for Belshaw during the match were an absolute bunch of sh1t houses , You know who you are and I hope you feel proud of yourselves you utter disgraces. The lad may not be the answer to our problems and in my opinion I don’t think he’s good enough to be our first choice but to hurl dogs abuse at him is down right out of order, especially during the game , belters the Chuffing lot of you ! Take your point, that was out of order; sure then, you will agree with me, Barton is also a "belter", regularly calling out his own players, and ex managers, referees live on Radio Bristol, pot-kettle-black. Utter Class.

Did Belly need proper competition for the jersey? Yes Was bringing in a youngster to replace him the wrong call? Yes
Both these things can be true. There is no point providing a sound experience for someone else's keeper, should have just brought Ward back
Can see Balcombe heading back to Brentford this week with Joey (rightly) blaming the fans for the chants but (wrongly) accepting no blame for a huge mistake
