Make or break for me. Next two away teams are as in as hideous form as us. Both 6 pointers. Following games are 90% big guns or very in form teams. Strap yourselves in to a very un smooth run…..my prediction is we stay up by a point.

I think Oxford will be thinking exactly the same. Playing us will be a chance to turn there season around. Over the years though I always seem to remember us winning there. Can't remember too many defeats, even going back to the manor ground days.

Since then it’s 8 visits (covid season excluded) W: 6 D: 2 L: 0 A pretty awesome record that. Let’s add to it Saturday! |

I assume when you say next two games, you are referring to the next two away games? The ones against Oxford and FGR?
We've got Barnsley in between at home who are unbeaten in 6, winning 5 of those games.

I posted after Saturday's loss if we can't pick up 3 or more points over the next 3 games then JB may as well go, as he's not going to turn things around this season. Although Wycombe seemingly losing now Ainsworth might make that an easier game.

After Saturday , I have zero confidence, i genuinely believe we are going to get sucked into the relegation places on current form. Praying that I’m wrong I’ve just got a bad feeling.

Agree, but I got s feeling 3 won’t be enough come the end of the season. Our season almost hinges on Gibson coming back in and looking commanding and Finley showing the player he can be for me. |

We need to defend better at Oxford and at home to Barnsley before going all out for three points at Forest Green who looked booked for relegation.

The performance against Ipswich showed spirit, hope and commitment. The burton game suggested all out mutiny. Perhaps if we can simplify we can cobble a run together but I can’t help but feel the dressing room has gotten sick of all the noise of replacements and and the constant gaming.
Perfect next fixture for a barometer but I’m putting a blindfold on and my fingers in my ears whilst sulking behind the sofa.

I said this on the 'Time For A Managerial Change?' thread.
We surely have to win one of our next 3 if we're to avoid the drop.
I guess we're all writing Barnsley off but if we can win any of our next 3 I'd stick with JB until the end of the season.
However, these 3 games include matches against an Oxford side that have W0, D1, L6 of their last 7 games, that's even worse than us, and a Forest Green side that are cut adrift at the bottom and haven't won in 13 games. Having already lost to Accrington, Morecambe, MK Dons, Lincoln and Burton, if we don't win any of our next 3, I can't see where the next win is coming from and we'll surely struggle to pick up the 10-16 points needed to stay in L1.
It's why I think a decision needs to be made after the next 3 games. IF we decide the sack him we need to allow time to find and appoint a new manager, and for him to have enough games left to try and turn things around.
I think these next 3 games could decide our season and Barton's future at Rovers.

I think Barton and his coaching team are confident we won't be going up and won't be going down and are now using the rest of the season to develop players and prepare for next season. If you look at the signings, or lack of them in both windows, nothing says "we're going for it".
I expect the last few months to be experimentation, giving players the chance to prove themselves for next season and some inconsistent performances and results along the way.

Looking at the many former EFL clubs now in the National league it is a scary thought that if we do go down we are only one league away.
Still,Notts County and Wrexham getting bigger crowds than most but Scunthorpe,Oldham,Torquay etc struggling.Remember Oldham in the old First Division when I ran the line there.Joe Royle I think was manager v Man U and I struggled to keep up with a youthful Ryan Giggs.
Watched the Gas there when we had the two Chelsea loanees and won there and Peter Hartley was brilliant.

If that is/was the case then why the impassioned talk of promotion and next tier football ? That’s rhetorical by the way and not aimed at you. Just all very odd, Howe were playing decent football and then messed up the window and just either gave up on the idea or something else. I do not bet it, not at all. |

I'd be more worried if our losing streak came later in the season. Yes we are very poor at the moment but there's still lots of points to play for and there is absolutely no reason why we can't take points from the better sides, especially playing on the break which seems to suit us better at the moment. I'd take a gritty draw at the moment, especially as it keeps teams below us in the table. I'm not convinced a big haul of points is needed either? Wouldn't be surprised if that last relegation spot is around the 45 point mark.
