It will be the beginning of the end for div 1 and below. Why will it, it's not as if it's hard now to watch every home game on iFollow but crowds at the Mem don't seem to be declining, who knows it might put pressure on Wael to provide a decent stadium. so what are the positives of this going ahead?

FWIW this is inevitable if iFollow remains in the mix.
ACCORDING TO MY MATE it's possible to watch them already on streaming services. So the clubs may as well get some cash for it.
I'm sure there was some research that found it hadn't damaged attendances anyway. Die hard fans remain die hard fans - the TV is no substitute for the live experience.
Nothing like getting soaked through and paying £80 for the train home for the pleasure of watching David Clarkson clog it around on the wing in a 3-0 away loss.

So all the clubs get an extra few million, what happens then is players values goes up and player wages go up, the clubs are no better off. We are only going to climb the ladder if we bring in revenue that other clubs don't.

We are only going to climb the ladder if we bring in revenue that other clubs don't. Unless we get better at scouting - they are out there - and coaching our own young players and give them a chance. As for different revenue that other clubs don't, I get the feeling that one club comes up with a new idea and the rest follow. They are not in direct competition ie if the Grimsby market exec comes up with something revolutionary, I doubt many Rovers fans would be interested in it, until we follow suit and make it Rovers related. Club lottery, 50/50, Helpline etc were not anything new, but we copied it and probably did things better. The Terrace is multi clubbed so saves costs by buying in bulk but adding different club badges to exactly the same designed track suit/ tee shirt etc - this saves the club from buying and designing the stuff itself. No doubt someone will come up with something new that we can copy/join etc, but at the end of the day we rely on the same 5000 and Wael. Without expansion to the stadium, or a Elliott Anderson of our own, it is very difficult to move up the leagues. I notice we have out sourced booking of the use of the Mem to try and get social events back up and running. Small fry overall but the lack of non match day use of the Mem does us no help at all. If done right I'm sure this could net tens of thousands, if not more.

If done right I'm sure this could net tens of thousands, if not more. Revenue from players and revenue from a larger ground with non match day revenue was the sort of thing I was talking about, of course if you have a rich owner who wants to pump lots of money in it doesn't matter, just trying to make the point an extra 3 million in TV rights won't help because all the div 1 clubs get it, it could end up making it even harder to get into the championship. Something like 4 championship clubs make a profit so the extra revenue that they all get has made no difference.

This might be a good thing.
People worldwide might start watching lower down the pyramid and realise that the football is pretty good even in league 1, and you have players who are almost normal people and not a weird collection of strangers from all 4 corners of the globe.
The reason so many folks pretend they have a connection to a prem team (other than the spoiled narcissistic child “I have to be the winner mum”) is because their games are available. That’s all they have. If their family don’t take them to the Gas, that’s it. It’s Man City for them.
Being able to tune in to their local club might revolutionise football back to its roots and not the pathetic plastic superstar w**k fest it is currently

If DAZN does win the battle for all the none Premiership games how will this work on match days?
Will they show all the Championship, L1 & L2 games at the same across 40(?) different channels with 4 camera men/women at every game, or will the games be staggered and we could be forced to play at 1pm or 5/7pm on a Saturday or even on Sunday or Monday/Friday evenings?
I assume they'll want wall to wall football and they won't be getting that if every game kicks off at 3pm on Saturday and 7:45 on a Tuesday?

Smacks of the ITV Digital thing all over again, even if it does go through, all the extra money will only go on more players wages. Yes I think I agree. It will happen if the money is there to do it. And they will skate over the consequences to the mid and long term future of lower league football. Once chairmen and owners see the gold they will have a very short term and blinkered view, ‘gimme the money’! When it happens it will be said to be in the ‘long term interest of football’ which means that no-one considered anything outside of the PL. And, as you say Somerset, the money will go straight out of the game into players (and agents) pockets and not to the real good of the clubs. Clubs will continue to overspend. I would fear for the well-being of the clubs outside of the EFL if it were to happen. They will struggle to attract attendances over and above their core support. Very sad when we already have almost blanket coverage of football already. But once it’s raised they’ll be no going back. UTG!

Sky has got domestic football stitched up in this country, the rest, Amazon and BT Sport etc, are just left to feed on the scrapes.

Sky just love to tie people into expensive subscriptions which increase each year above the rate of inflation, whilst offering tasty introductory packages for new subscribers only. They aren't interested in pay as you view. Hate the model they operate but people seem to cough up.

So after all that, its likely that nothing changes and everything will stay the same as it is?

Think that would be an opportunity lost as DAZN is probably the best value sports portal of all. Big boxing and lots more, much , much cheaper than sky. Last time i had it, wears around a tenner a month and you got all of the sports, not just a bout or game. Personally, I’d love DAZN to have one over on poxy sky, the ruination of football

So after all that, it’s likely that nothing changes and everything will stay the same as it is? ALL about the dollars my friend. I doubt sky would want to get beaten and would even be prepared to take a hit, to keep their monopoly of sport. Just realised that even writing about therm, makes me angry and yet i have sky but not the sport package, they just increase prices every year and only when you properly tot it up, you realise you are paying a grand for basics

Seems a strange decision, Tom Gorringe has been open that he wants to get rid of the 3pm blackout. Sky don't want to show League 1 or 2 games. Just means more people will find other ways to watch them.

It's not difficult to buy one-offs from Sky (eg Sheffield Wednesday game earlier in the season). You buy a Now TV 24hour pass for £11

I'm more worried that someone is going to find a way of blocking vpn access to ifollow that I'm sure some supporters use 😇

I'm more worried that someone is going to find a way of blocking vpn access to ifollow that I'm sure some supporters use 😇 I’ve already had this issue with NordVPN for half of this season. What do others use that works? As long as crowd attendances don’t drop too much, I’d be very supportive of this. As someone who can only really attend 5ish games per season (mostly away), I feel very disconnected from the club since I haven’t been able to watch on Saturdays. What that means for me/the club is that I’m less excited to go, I’m not desperately looking for weekends where I can go and I’m rarely browsing the shop for merchandise - just purely because Rovers aren’t top of thought these days.
