I thought the post-match interview with Barton on Radio Bristol was quite good - he didn’t slate Evans, other than to say he was disappointed with the red card. Said he didn’t think the Collins incident was a penalty. Also took responsibility for making the wrong subs at half-time, didn’t seem to blame anyone else. Sure a few people won’t like that . . . Does that qualify as a successful night? What a stupid f*cking question. No one is claiming it was a successful night; just pointing out that he appeared to be being honest when answering the questions put to him and admitting that he made the mistakes which by implication probably cost us the game, which kind of goes against the narrative of some posters here.

I do love the honesty of you gas. Most (not all) of you here are critical in the right way. Looking inwardly, not like Wednesday fans who, blame the EFL for the fixtures, referees, fans etc etc. Well done to the gas who travelled. Couldn't have been an easy watch for large parts. I saw there were a few posts talking about finances etc - fwiw we were c.2hrs away from being liquidated just over ten years ago. The club managed to stay in the football league, just about, we ran on free transfers for a number of seasons. We still haven't paid any substantial fees for any player. The prior owner and our current owner invested into the club infrastructure, tidying up the stadium, making the off field operation more professional etc etc. That's the base which clubs like us need to build. On field, the current owner has brought in data driven methods for player acquisition and so on, so we're essentially doing "money ball" and successfully. The owner runs a data driven hedge fund and has brought a similar approach to argyle. It's been in the works for many years and we're reaping the rewards. My view of Rovers (shoot me down if you want) is the manager. He barely left his seat in the second half yesterday, seemed more intent on being a pain in the backside than focusing purely on his team. In my opinion you guys deserve much better than that. UTG Barton was stood for most of the 2nd half, even when we were losing and he was getting chants from the Plymouth fans. They were singing give us a wave, thumbs up etc, which he did. They were then singing she said no Joey. We all know Joey is a hot head and talks before he thinks etc. But he doesn't go hiding. Even during the last minutes he was stood having a good chat with Hughes and then spoke to your manager, shook his hand and wished him luck etc. Maybe you looked during the few minutes he wasn't there🤣 I couldn't see JB clearly from where i was standing but at one stage a few Plymouth fans sang Barton, Barton give us a wave and he did . Then they all joined in the chant but the moment had gone. As he walked off the pitch the fans near the tunnel were giving him grief but he just looked across and smiled at them. It seems to me that now sadly we have lost Paul O'Grady - JB has a future as a pantomime dame

Evans cost us the game with a pointless red, there was no way 10 men were going to hold out for an hour whatever JB did at half-time. Frustrating before the red the game was fairly even.

Ok So this is a football forum and we talk about our team. Yet you think it worthy to highlight that the manager was being honest and accepted his mistakes So, this only worthy of comment because by contrast he so rarely has. In fact, to date, he normally blames everyone and everything to divert the responsibility, which is his. On top of that truth, the tone of your post suggests "how dare we" (challenge him) Each to their own, I guess.

Well, I'm glad that's over with. I watched the whole game, but lost interest after Evans got sent off. It was obvious if we conceded we could lose by loads. Although I could see why Joey made the tactical decisions at half time, I don't believe they were right and he should have done it later. I believe he took Collins off because we will soon have to get used to 'life without him'. However, I can't fault the application of any of the players he brought on (or any of the players who stayed on), I thought they still fought for the team and their efforts, Belly's keeping, and the Muffs decision to squander every chance offered to them and accept a 2-0 win made it look a respectable score, on paper. It's a shame that Harry has decided he's not wanted here, and I hope that we can hang on to Grant Ward, and maybe Gibson and perhaps even Bogarde on a season long loan, but I think we're going to need another 6-7 new players if not, and have to bear with another slow start to next season. UTG.

As a Rovers fan first & foremost, and neither particularly pro-or anti-Barton, I find it interesting to watch how both sides react to things. I found it surprising that, for a change, he gave a seemingly honest interview during which he accepted responsibility, didn’t publicly slag off Evans, etc etc, but no one seemed to be giving him any credit for that, or commenting on it at all. I Wasn’t being judgemental or critical of anyone, just posting an observation. So if you think my post is suggesting any outrage at people criticising Barton, then you probably need to adjust your Inner Working Model . . .

With that statement you make my point.

UTG. Given the number of loan players returning to their parent clubs and other players out of contract JB has to sign players to replace them, or promote a couple of the youngsters, Ward, Lawrence or Jones?, or he'll be struggling to fill the bench next season.

Your automatic leap to the absolute worse case scenario as a default setting in every little thing to do with BRFC, is incredible as it is alarming. Almost admire it in a way😄
