I think that it is a disgrace that you have to pay your manager money for him to tell you about the club. Genuinely stunned that Wael has, seemingly, ok’d this Or it points to the fact JB's now running the show and Wael's just really a puppet owner? |

So....for a good while the gripes on here has been about lack of transfers happening. People scrabbling around chasing rumours and posting incorrect stories no doubt.
We find out there are 4 this week (potentially) and are we happy with that ? ...no...lets find a new whinge instead.
I have wondered if that is the appeal of a lower league club . Always plenty to moan about .

Surprised 73 people had already read the tweet when Bristol Live uploaded a screenshot, as that probably means he's already got 100+ subscribers! It seems pretty clear this news has been kept back until he could put his account behind a paywall. Tomorrow he'll probably announce the long awaited news on what's happening with the new stand and then on Wednesday start revealing the new kit. You obviously don't understand why has gone to a subscription service and has commented without any facts. The majority of the money he makes from it will be going to charity and he has done it because of all the crap that gets written on every tweet he sends out, it's a but tedious reading the same pathetic comments everytime. It's not just to feed people info about Rovers. Then, if that is the case, why keep his first account ? |

Like it or not Barton is a brand. He’s played at a high level and had a career that’s attracted attention. People are interested. You’d say that his influence should be reflected in his wages but let’s be realistic it’s league one. I like the fact he’s putting controls in place and it benefits charity. If EP by-pass that then it’s a question of ethics on them, perhaps they would give a charitable donation? How many other manager could do what JB is doing? How can any Gashead say they like the fact they have to spend £5 a month just to read their manager's Rovers tweets/updates, the worlds gone mad when posters support this move. |

Can we just draw a line
JB can do what he wants selling his skill set. £5 on twitter, £10k personal appearances, 0898 premium line. All fine.
This should not be the route for news about Rovers transfers, kit, player tidbits or anything like this. Journalists should keep posting this for free as it is not in the fans interest to do this.
Those critical of JB (including me) can accept the first one
Those that defend his every move, need to accept the 2nd one

Because we pay and support the club I’m guessing is the answer, Joey always does his interviews/press ect… he’s not obligated beyond that.
Perhaps we should have ago at TG or WAQ, or perhaps it is all JBs fault as he’s the easiest target

Along with a false narrative that the proceeds will go to charity. I thought the new account was to give insight into the world of football. The official accounts will announce signings as per norm. There is nothing in what he posted about making signings that is really meaningful so no need to spend a fiver. Thought you were clever enough to understand this. But, I do wonder why he has the energy to run this service as he is a young coach still learning the game, therefore he should be giving 100% to his employers, in my opinion. |

Think there are league rules and probably club rules that managers have to do press interviews. |

I am criticising the lot of them As I say, who is setting the parameters for what the manager is allowed to say/do as an employee of the football club?. Cleary JB is doing whatever Joey wants to do and will continue to do so. He has his bag man and all his mates at the club. I am not against a manager having his own people at the club, many do, but they permeate throughout the whole club. When Joey inevitably goes as is life, how many positions will need filling at the club from top to bottom (including his voice on the board)? As I said earlier, I imagine TG is insignificant to Barton and Barton would just go over him to Wael if Tom pushed back at him in any manner. Only one man is running the club, and Wael is happy to let him |

The club's been a bit of a basket case for years (letting GC leave and replacing him with BG a perfect example) perhaps if JB has taken complete control we'll finally make some progress?
I wonder who is really behind taking out a loan to build the new stand as it's not something Wael's ever done previously??
Perhaps the gain might be worth the pain, if not, then at least it gives us something to talk/moan about in the meantime!
