Love what DC did for us, but he is still to show he can do it above League Two. We had a good first season back in league one 2016-17, but DC struggled thereafter. I think he's brave to take on a team that sit rock bottom and haven't scored a goal. I personally don't think he can turn that around, but I'd love him to prove me wrong. My sentiments entirely. I think the snake leaving as late as he did was the beginning of the end for DC here, which is why I was surprised he had him back at Vale. I always wondered if he regretted not taking the Leeds job which would have set him up for life

When they sacked Wade DC was the first name that sprang to mind so not surprised by this appointment(I nearly made a thread on it suggesting his name as the forerunner for the job). A good appointment for them and I can see him keeping them up this season. I don't think they have the money to get new players. He can improve their self belief and get them organized but unless he can pull another Bodin, Taylor or Sinclair out of the hat with frees or cheap signings in January, I fear they will be in serious trouble. That said, if they persevere and give him a preseason, they could be surprise play off contenders next season.

He might have made some decent money but I doubt he would have had a year in charge. We will never know.

If he takes them down I can see him getting the boot as he has plenty of time and a full transfer window. Id have waited for a bigger and better job to come along in L2 where he excels, Mark Hughes cant have long left at Bradford for example

Chelts already 1 down. Imagine he’ll come in for Gibbons in Jan as he’ll still be their top scorer 🤣

Nothing but good wishes for DC, think he'll always be my favourite manager for his time with us.

On Points West tonight.Don't envy him the massive task he has there but there were a lot of Rovers clips from his time with us.No transfer window to play with.Hope it works for him.

His job is surely just to hang on until the end of the season and start building a squad to challenge in League 2 next season.
Still our most successful recent manager so I hope the best for him.

Incredible that Cheltenham haven’t scored a goal yet in eleven league games. Must be a record surely?

Incredible that Cheltenham haven’t scored a goal yet in eleven league games. Must be a record surely? Can DC turn Cheltenham around ? Cheltenham have now equalled the record of Coventry, in 1919-20, and Hartlepool United, in 1992-93, both went 11 league matches in a row without scoring. Cheltenham also became the first side in EFL history to lose their first five home league games of a season without scoring. Derby up next for DC

Like someone else said, should have waited for the Bradford job.
With their fanbase, I'm pretty sure a good manager could get them in the championship, or at least regular top ten league one in the next 4-5 years.

Good call, a big club in L2 would have been a much better fit than one struggling in L1. Sure he could have got Bradford up. Chelts he'll have to rebuild in L2 next season. Probably still get them promoted tho.

Should have waited until Jan and would have got a better gig. Will not even be in the top half of favourites in division 2 next season and that will leave him as a jobbing division 2 manager from there on.

Gillingham now need a new manager. That would have been the perfect fit for both parties
