Its okay. The North Somerset ploughing champions are standing in for our boys this weekend. Seriously though the pitch looks sh**e. As Eddie Wring would say...Ooop an Ooonder

Sadly the pitch is the worst its ever been and there are a number of factors.
The drainage is blocked. During the construction of the East Stand in the early 2000s, some wise guy thought it would be a good idea to pour concrete in the pipework!
Secondly, the main issue is the Rugby Club. The pitch was fine until January. It rained, they played on it (as they can play on anything) and its ruined. They then did the same in Feb, they also threw in a training session on the mudbath just for good measure. We have had to play numerous games away from the Shay to our expense just to get games on. They will then play on it the next day. This was happening when they were over a year behind with rent.
In the summer our board of directors funded some major groundwork out of their own back pocket, the rugby club paid nothing.
It is effecting our results, there is no life in the pitch and it will hardly be a classic on Saturday but i do hope many of you make the journey and enjoy your day. You'll be in 2 of the best stands at the ground (not sure which you are in yet) but you'll either be in the massive open terrace or the old skircoat seats that has really good acoustics.

If the rugby club is causing so many problems and not pulling their weight finacial wise, there only one solution - Kick Them Out!!!!

Unfortunately the council own the ground, and are very close to the officials at the rugby club, so much so that an underhand deal was very nearly finalised for the rugby club director to buy the Shay for a ridiculously low amount. It was only uncovered when he was boasting on twitter with comments like 'ssshhhhhh' and pictures of him with his fingers to his lips. He was promising a huge announcement at one of the rugby club events. It ended up being a walk to Dewsbury as his main scheme had been foiled. If he hadn't have boasted about it on social media then he probably would have got away with it.
Anyway, Saturdays game. It will be on. I have no doubts about that. It most likely will be at at the Shay too. If it isn't it will be very close but we simply cannot not play the game. With the Rugby at home Sunday, our game against Barnet will be the one in doubt.

It's never going to be good, but I presume games cannot be called off just because the grass is poor.

Reckon we'll take a decent following. Around the 600 mark maybe? Would this mean we are given the terrace or the seats?

I am working in halifax this week and took a look at the pitch today - not great and heavy rain forecast tomorrow. Fair to say it won't be one for the purists ! Pubs between station that look worth a visit are the courtyard and dirty dicks. Good news is the shay is right in the town so easy walking distance.

If Easters fit he has to start.
Wasn't going to go to this one, but train booked. Come on

Some other good pubs in town The Three Pigeons a pub of great architechtural interest and good beer also Barum Top a Wetherspoons. Need a good following after last week to keep top spot!!! and avoid a possible run of bad results at this key stage of the season - such an important game a good following is essential.

Pitch not looking good - if it's on expect a long ball marathon and neck ache by half time - bottom line is 3 points is a must and any way to get them will do for me.

Tho this is the kind of pitch players get injured on, I'll take a rubbish 1-0 win if we come through with no injuries

Dirty dicks and three pigeons are good options and are close to the away end. Avoid the courtyard though, it's a "halifax" pub and I don't think would be that welcoming. Pretty sure their would be a fair few police around it as well. Depending on numbers you have told you will bring. You with either get just the skircoat seats(2k capacity) or both the skircoat and North terrace(3k capacity) both are covered. In All honesty while to big for us, our ground is one of the best traditional grounds you will see from league one downwards.

What time are the gas on tour aiming to arrive on Saturday ? I am on 7 39 train from parkway - and from what time is drinking cider on a train socially acceptable ?
