Unfair critisism of DC again yesterday IMO. We often question his selections, but if he gets the result, I button it and say well done. Given our form in the last 6 months, he has proved right much more than not. Yesterday he was right until the last two minutes, you can't account for your keeper making a mistake. And for those questioning dropping Mildy, everyone was very complimentary of the strong decision by DC at the time. I know people are upset, emotional, but some of the negativity directed at certain management/players has been out of order. Not me. I said picking Puddy would come back to bite us on the ass. Didnt take long did it? I agree with you here. I said the same he's a liability. You're still a mad man though

As for DC, his remit was top five and he's got us at the least second place. He deserves another shot next season unless he gets taken elsewhere. Another manager = another rebuilding job, which we cannot afford - in both time and in wages. I would have thought the issue is whether he would stay with us as I'm sure there will be FL job offers. Judging from how serious he is about getting us back into the League we were in when he took over, I suspect (and pray!) he would stay with us.

Unfinished business and all that.

He can still do it, but there is an outlet for the board to get in a perceived preferred manager.
Can you recall any Board member giving a ringing endorsement of DC over the last month or so?

Just very passionate supporter, that wants the best we can get. Mildenhall makes a mistake and gets bombed out. We have waster of a striker that has cost us umpteen points this season, that gets treated differently to every other player. Mildenhall is a better keeper than Puddy

Who would you say that could honestly do a better job than DC? I find it baffling how many people think it's promotion or bust for him. Many of those were probably the ones who said we'd struggle this season. He literally can't win with some of our fans.

The Board, not you or me, gave DC a goal of getting promotion THIS SEASON. He was told that by the Board and he is well aware of their requirements.

As far as I'm aware, I was always told the remit was top 5 and DC said he'd get us promoted. IF we don't, I think the board would be even more stupid than I preciously thought if they were to get rid, regardless of some sort of remit.
I have a nightmare scenario in my head that we stay down, that DC goes and is replaced by Gary Johnson. If that happens, I can't see us being anywhere near top five and the result will be a Buckle x100 type atmosphere.
For the ones who want him to go if we were to stay down, who's the target?

Agreed. at the QA session NH loosely said top 5 as a remit when pushed. DC said he believed he'd get us promotion. Thats all that was really said.

So if we do miss out on promotion basically the Board won't renew DC's contract solely on the basis Puddy dropped a 83 min cross? No wonder we're in the state we are as a club if that's how decisions are made. The Board will look even more foolish, if that's possible, if DC goes on to be a success at a FL club and meanwhile we're struggling in the Conference next season.

Nowhere in my comments have I said that.
DC was given a target by the Board of what they expected this season. Surely no-one will disagree that the Board SHOULD set a target.
If we fail to get promotion, the Board have to decide if they want to renew DC's contract, which I understand is NOT a rolling twelve month contract. I am not aware that the Board have even considered renewing his contract yet and who is to know who the Board may be at the beginning of next season?
I will not comment on weather I think this season has been a success until after the final game, be that Saturday or after the play-offs. I will say that we have done better than I expected, so far.
As regards who was at fault for the goal, I'm afraid that a whole season can revolve around one mistake caused by a player, referee etc. My problem regarding Saturday was the fact that a one goal lead was always open to a sucker punch goal and Dover threw every player into the penalty box for that corner, leaving Taylor in the centre circle on his own until just before the kick was taken and they had nothing, apart from pride, to gain by scoring.
Alfreton will try to ensure they do not concede a goal on Saturday and hope to hit us on the break, much like Dover. It is going to be a stressful game, unless Barnet are already winning by a few gaols against Gateshead.
Keep the faith, for 20 minutes on Saturday we almost achieved a fantastic result. But, I still remember how I felt last season after the Wycombe game and we all know how that turned out on the final day of the season, before a record crowd that season.

First of all, I'm still absolutely gutted about that bloody goal on Saturday, having said that I'm still confident that we'll go up, either next week or through the play offs, if somehow that we don't manage to I personally think it would be insane to not give DC another season, surely everybody can see that the last thing we would need would be another new manager coming in and changing things about and maybe upsetting the great atmosphere that is clearly in the squad.
DC is clearly a good young manager and I think he really wants to succeed with us and wouldn't want to leave if we don't go up and I honestly think that if we don't go up we would water it next year with him in charge.

Ha, I know sh1theads that are more supportive of rovers than you! You are very incorrect. I just tell the truth. Sometimes it upsets people, but I am rarely wrong. We have players in this squad that are clearly up to the job and others that sadly are not anywhere near good enough. May I remind you that you called DC the 'clueless one' this isn't the truth and you are wrong. Perhaps you have to big yourself up as no one else does in your life. Didn't you also want Buckle instead of DC ha ha, well he would be pretty cheap now

Is that the same board that cut his budget by 25% because of Tony the till getting it wrong ?
