"HOWEVER, information may still be shared without consent if, that lack of consent can be overridden in the public interest. This is a matter of judgement and should consider the safety and well-being of the person and others who may be affected by their action." I guess most people will accept that having away fans in the home end was a safety issue?? That was the conclusion I drew when reading up about rights and responsibilities of data holders. Which means a lot of our personal data may be more available to third parties than we think. European law is tightening up in this respect, but the UK version seems pretty toothless.

I've seen a few sheeds saying they weren't allowed tickets as they have a BS postcode. Are they really that obsessed?!

The fact is, the 82ers are still COMPLETELY obsessed with us. It's embarrassing tbh; they've just won promotion to the Championship as champions and still all they can do is talk about us and - incredibly - are even trying to get tickets to "watch us lose". You just couldn't make it up.
It's reminds me of the ex you break up with because you're not interested in any more, who then tells you it's "fine because she doesn't like you any more either". But then she constantly updates her Facebook status to show "how well she's doing" and texts you every day just to point out she "isn't missing you".
It's cringeworthy tbh. I'd dread to think how much of their daily lives we'd take up if we were in the same division.

It's because they're jealous that we're still getting big crowds and our support has pulled together during the most difficult time in our clubs history. Compare that to the way they were in their clubs most difficult time and it's plain to see why.. 82ers the lot of em.

That's what city are. They are ex gfs that still send you pics of dicks thinking she's making u jealous but really the only one who clearly gives a f**k is actually her. And probably the dude attached to the dick.

Section 29 of the data protection act allows the sharing of information for the purposes of law enforcement. nOT to keep people out of football grounds. The sharing club and the requesting club could be in trouble unless there is consent agreed somewhere?

Taking the postcode thang a stage further: On the logic that anyone with a BS postcode would support one of the Bristol teams, I guess it would follow that anyone with a BS13 postcode would be a shed? Well, I certainly am not

The sharing club and the requesting club could be in trouble unless there is consent agreed somewhere? I thought that, but looking at various interpretations, including advice from Government web sites on the matter led me to the caveat posted above. As we are supposed to be on the same side as our club, I do think the question should be raised via the fans representatives on the board about how personal data held by Bristol Rovers has been used in this case and whether the proper consent is in place. Pretty much all of us have seen how the law can be manipulated to stigmatise football fans. I feel that the club owe its fans an explanation on this one.

Yeah a club who stand to lose approx £300K this year on the regular season are going to employ someone to tell FGR who is on their database and break the law while doing so? C'mon get real
Have you been to the Pirate Lesiure shop recently? Its been packed and they have had to get volunteers to help out, so who has time to be part time FGR spies?
When asked what part of FGR's ground you wanted to go - "oh......um..... erm...... errr............the home end" was probably a bit of a giveaway

However, they made that statement and plenty have indicated they've had tickets cancelled even though they did not have a Bristol postal address - including many in various GL postcodes. Taking your scenario, another possibility is that data has been passed on in ignorance of the data protection law.
