Lambert v City.
Igoe at Wembley.
Can't remember who it was against but the Marcus Browning one they've done on Question of Sport "What happens next"? Round. Oppo keeper throws the ball out (I think hoping to put back spin on it) there's no back spin and the ball goes to Browning's feet, he rounds the keeper and slots it in the net.

Very well could have been. Yes.

Paul Tait's knee at Gresty Road. What a night that was.
And most of the others mentioned of course. The gas scoring at Trashton is always a bit spesh though if you ask me.

Gary Smarts goal at City in '87 is up there for me, especially in the context of the game, as City had battered us.
However, probably the best goal I have ever seen live, I give you Rickie Lamberts goal v Luton away. Never touched the ground after it left our keepers hands until it had gone in Lutons net. Stupendous!!

carl gilberts winner against league leaders orient in front of a big eastville crowd after 38 seconds i think? maybe 1972? we didnt go up though I remember that one. We beat both Orient and Luton, who both went up I think. As you say, we didn't.

One of my favorites was a goal scored by Sandy Allen (I think) against QPR in a League Cup reply in 1971 (?). It's all a bit hazy, but the background was that we drew at Loftus Road 1-1, with Stan Bowles (what a player) hitting the Roves bar right at the end. QPR had some stars playing for then including (I think) Stan Bowles, Phil Parkes etc. They were an outstanding team. In the reply at Eastville, it hammered down with rain. I was stood in the Tote End, where the goal was scored. It was only a tap into the empty net, but someone (I don't know who) broke through in the inside left position and shot at goal. Phil Parkes could only dive to his left to parry the ball, and the ball ended up spinning on a spot about 8 yards out. Sandy Allen just ran forward and put it into the net. The thing was you could just see he was going to score, so the goal celebrations actually began before he even reached the ball. We won 1-0 !

Agogo's two goals against Yeovil with 9 men - not the best of goals, but the circumstance made them incredible.
Andy Williams at Southampton
Jeff Hughes against Hereford at home
Matty Taylor at Forest Green was very important and will be something I'll never forget

Best Goal? Don't know but these stand out... ... Rickie Lambert JP Semi Final against you know who Feb 2007 ... mansell pen for obvious reasons ... Harold Jarman in the fog at the Tote End Jan/Feb 1971 (?) or 1972 (?). Was right behind the goal and knew before anyone else it was going in. Brilliant still remember it all these years later as if it were yesterday. ... Aug 1969 Robin Stubbs against Barnsley to make it 3-2 just before half time at the Muller Road end, great shot after a good dribble. Very un-Stubbs like goal. Match ended 3-3. Funny how the old goals with nothing much riding on them stick in the memory
