Maybe Mr Clarke cannot get an "OK" from the top at the moment................ DC claims he hasn't signed anyone because they either dont want to sign for us or want too much money. Maybe its as simple as that ? A sensible answer like that won't satisfy the conspiracy theorists.

A sensible point...but it also still means we're 3*/4*/5*/7* players short of a First Team squad (*delete as appropriate), a squad that we were told would be in place before pre-season started....

Yup i agree the lack of signings and performence as a manager in the last eight games is why im worried about DC. I know a lot of people find that opinion to be unreasonable because he cried and then told us how great he is but history tells us our board are not very good at choosing managers.
Lets hope his comments about his connections in the game for loan signings comes true an we dont just get players in from Hartlepool and Pompey.

We need four or five FULL TIME signings to complete our squad. Loans should be emergencies only. We still need the creative edge to the team and there are only three weeks to go. It looks like we are one striker short but you could have all thye strikers in the world but if you aren't creating they won't score. There are hundreds of players out there.Surely there are four or five who are good enough and willing to sign for us or have the Board made the budget impossible to get there players in? It could well be the reason why Clarke was given the Managers job because they knew that no experienced Manager would work under these constraints.

Loan signings offer the chance to bring in quality players on small wages. Look what everton and yeovil achieved with them.

Can often allow you to bring a higher standard of player to the club than would be possible on a permanent deal (and sometimes a player like that ends up enjoying it and signing afterwards e.g Parkes, Mildenhall, JJO'T etc.) IMO we've been too over-reliant on loans in the past and that can become an issue, especially when they're short term and a key player in an important position. But I've got no problem with our fourth striker being a loan signing (for example), seeing as we already have three permanent strikers at the club.

I am worried about our Financial Directors ability to count and give him the tools he needs. 12 managers in 5 years can't all have been bad. I think we are in for a bad season but imo it won't be DCs fault.

DC has just stated (via Official BRFC twitter) that he has verbally agreed a contract with a player and hopefully will be signed on Monday.

Quite looking forward to the Yeovil game now. The return of Brunt, a possible appearance of Smudger, a new signing with league experience and another chance for DC to run the rule over the trialists. Plus I haven't seen our new signings yet so all things considered it should be worth the trip.

That will be one of our three trialist defenders i reckon Latest Bristol Post article all but states it is not. But Trotman has several hundred games experience in the league. I think we will sign 2 of Trotman, Higgins and Mitchell. Hopefully Higgins will be signed as lots of potential. Im hoping its Cureton but he has been offered another deal at Cheltenham

Latest Bristol Post article all but states it is not. Im hoping its Cureton but he has been offered another deal at Cheltenham League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge have signed experienced striker Jamie Cureton on a free transfer. The 38-year-old, who scored 11 goals in 36 appearances for Cheltenham last season, has agreed a one-year deal with the Daggers. Cureton made his senior debut for Norwich in November 1994 and has scored 258 goals in 750 career appearances during his time in England. Dagenham become the 14th club of his 20-year professional career.

Surprised D&R have gone for such an old timer, surely he could have done a job for us if we can still play another season in Div 2?

When did he leave us? And why have we had chat about him resigning every season since? Feels like 20 years of "why don't we sign curo" etc. He doesn't want to, clearly.
