Trotman would be avery decent signing at this level with a lot of league experience. Good age for a centre back too.
Can't say I know naything about Thompson though...

Trotman's biggest issue is that he makes a lot of silly mistakes. 95% of the time he's a decent defender, but when he makes those mistakes you can drop points. That said, that was in the football league. Maybe he can improve that and, even if not, we will have 3 centre backs anyway which could mean he has cover when this happens. I find it fairly reassuring that there are still some 'known' players being trialled. Shows that we have far from missed out on the good players.

Both defenders and keepers mistakes often go punished so get remembered more. A quick read of the Plymuff forum shows that they don't seem to rate him at all...

Alot of our players that moved on were not rated by our supporters either....... Lets not make a list though because it's embarrassing!

Have to say, It's bloody refreshing to see this side of you mate. As you know, I said before that I rated the total loyalty you showed on the OF but Christ, it's good to know you are indeed human. Will Spock ever be back ?

Could you clarify in what context either of these two players can be claseed as "good", Trotman maybe be useful bakc up but he hardly fits the type of player DC was trying to sign and looks just another journey man? As far as Thompson is he really a striker given his poor goals to games ratio, lets hope he looks better on the pithc than his stats suggest, surely there's better on the local non league scene?

Didn't mean they were good (although they may well be, I haven't seen yet). I more meant 'known'. Trotman is a well known player to be honest, he will get a club soon I'm sure. There are players available I believe and I'm interested in who they will be... Also not writing off either of these. Since trotman would be a bench player it wouldn't be awful.

Yes and I live round the corner from the ground. When not watching Rovers (2 yrs season ticket holder) I watched BRTFC who lost in the play offs to Conf South again this year. As posted elsewhere DC should look at Ben Johnson (skilful winger/striker) and James Crane (leftsided fullback/midfield)

Sammy Igoe was on loan at Bognor Regis end of last season I think

Just realised Trotman played virtually every game for Plymouth last season, if we get him, then it looks like he world be a good signing, you do wonder if DC is planning on playing 3 across the back, as I can't imagine in of the central defenders would be happy to be on the bench? Lockyer at RB should Smith leave?

Thompson was poor today, though he did bang his head early on. Trotman was relatively good, with the occsional mistake as mentioned above

I thought Thompson did well. He won a lot of flick ons looked good on the ball too. Trotman was 1 positive from today did very well. You could tell the defence didn't really know each other made a few mistakes but all round thought Trotman did well
Also like to say if Smith does stay we should still sign Higgins. Seen him in all 3 games. If we let him go without a deal will be a massive mistake the lad is brilliant

Saw a fair bit of Trotman at Plymouth and he is a bit of a mistake waiting to happen, but he's played 40+ games in League Two for the past two seasons and is a leader. Plymouth didn't do too badly in the league above playing him week in week out either.
Wasn't there yesterday to see him at Bath, but I'd be surprised if we didn't offer him a deal.

Was surprised Thompson looked alright and he could well be worth a longer look, especially since he's basically competitions to be fourth choice striker. Fingers crossed Brunty stays fit now.

Doesn't look like either of them will be sticking around... As for the triallists, it would appear that Neal Trotman and Daniel Thompson won’t be staying with the club, though the manager has yet to make a decision on Ryan Higgins.
“Ryan, a former Birmingham City trainee, has done well in two or three games and I think he’s a young lad with potential. I will make a decision on him in the next few days.”

If the Manager hasn't made a decision on Higgins then he bloody well should have done and as regards the other trialists it seems to me that it is a total waste of time where he makes decisions based on one game and a bit of training. To me the games played so far have been a waste of time as regards trialists because from reports it seems no matter how they have played they are not taken on.
