Got to say I am more than worried with the build up so far. Surely the players should all be getting game time now. we still need a strong cb and a strong cf. we have no spine to our side. They should all be in place by now and gelling as a unit. Disagree entirely tbh. Macca is a perfectly capable strong CB and Brunt is that strong CF. We need more signings but that's for depth, I would say our spine is solid

The build-up to me so far is great in terms of communication but to me looks worrying in terms of building a winning squad...

He knows our weaknesses, he is trailing people to resolve them. Seems legit. If he already knows then judging by the quality of the players on trial he may need to rethink our swift return to the football league imo. That is unless he's gonna surprise us with 2 or 3 decent signings in the nexted 3 weeks.
I love the way some people keep going on about the need for 3 or 4 decent signings inferring that the trialists that DC is looking at don't come into that category. Please tell me what constitutes a 'decent' signing... Is it simply someone you have heard of before, is it someone who has played for a bigger club and failed (we've had many of these over the past few years and very few of them have turned out to be decent), is it someone who has played at this level before and succeeded (in which case why would they be coming to us?). People need to remember the best two players we've signed recently have been Smith and Brown and both were untested when we signed them. I like the way DC is going about things with the trialists, he's finding hungry players on their way up and he's making sure they have the right attributes and fit in with the squad before signing. This is surely a much better approach than simply rushing to sign a squad of expensive 'name' players who are mostly on the way down in their careers.

Signings that can start a match. That weren't injured all of last season. That haven't spent the last 2 seasons at Fishponds Old Boys. That are older than 16. Who haven't got a reputation for glassing people or boozing or disappearing through the season to go on a bender for paddys day.....oops.

Come on Gashead79 theres no need to down Fishponds Old boys! My original football team has had many fine local players!! I know what you mean however what we need is creativity and to get that you need to be looking for a "big" Conference club (gosh I hate saying that!) like Rovers to be signing at least good Conference players but preferably ex League 2 players to mix with what we have already signed.

Bath City vs @official_BRFC (3PM KO) - GAME ON. Despite the heavy rain overnight, the groundsman says the pitch is still very firm.

Smith was a Northern Ireland international cost the club we got him from £5000 and had interest from other clubs when we bought him in. Brown got a professional contract at QPR but to be honest is not really that good imo (sorry fanboy) but may shine at this level. We have so far signed no one that anyone else is interested in and are looking at trialists that cannot find a club. Imo DC is going about this in a nieve and amateurish way but saying that I really do hope I'm wrong and we have a great season.

They need the money. We need the game. Shame about the weather but maybe a few who were heading to the harbour might change their minds and head for sunny Bath instead.

Brown had the most assist in the team from left back. Was also part of a defence that kept 15 clean sheets. Imo we were relegated because we had midfielders who graft hard but with zero creativity and provided next to no assists all season and strikers who graft hard but also no creativity or assists or goals. We had a league 1 back 5 imo and a sunday league midfield and strike force

League one back 5 that must be why we have got all those clubs smashing our doors down trying to sign them (well one of them anyway) And anyone that believes any player is staying because they feel they owe us is in cloud cuckoo land. It just means they are not good enough to get any offers or are to old to uproot and move.

Mildenhall is as good as any keeper in the lower leagues but at his age hea not going to get many offers.
