Just saying but if he'd won more league home game during our relegation season he wouldn't have needed to get us promotion. "Not a single manager has been directly "poached" by a higher club. All left by "mutual consent," due to personal reasons or were fired" Not sure what this statement means as DC's not been poached either so far, so he could just as easily join the others as he could be poached? This argument has been done to death I know but it does fascinate me that people genuinely blame dc for our relegation! He had no influence on any of the olayers brought in and was given a handful of games with an appaling squad low on confidence. The people who have this attitude must be as miserable as sin! I don't like this 'being in the conference brought shame on our club' mentality. I'd take the last two seasons, relegation and then promotion, over two boring lower-mid-table safety seasons any day. We're fans of football as well as just fans of the gas, and we've been on the edge of our seat since our relegation season from division 1, what with the managerial marry go rounds, relegation near-misses, player-coups, behind the scenes shenanigans, court cases and board room bust-ups. Say what you like, but supporting the gas is not boring, like say, supporting Walsall, a very well run, competent League 1 club, might be. This is probably also the reason why our attendances have held up so well since relegation from league 1.

Unfortunately I think we have the kinda fans where they will call for the managers head when the going gets tough, so I hope for our sake more than DC's that we don't have a bad rough patch as it will certainly be our loss. Yep. And you just know the "bring in Mad Dog" rubbish would start again.

Before the smart asses reply: I am aware that Clarke is the only manager to see us into non-league. But his hands were somewhat tied by previous managers mistakes. Not picking out you in particular, but I'd love people who don't rate DC to pick a replacement manager who i) we can get, ii) we can afford and iii) who would actually come here, especially when so many fans who admit the club overall is run badly are calling for the head of the best manager we're had in (at least) the last five years...

Is it possible that we could just merge the 2 threads.
I would hazard that DC is somewhere between nieve and learning and potentially pretty decent and certainly a huge improvement on every manager for the last 8 Years.
He's not clueless, but not brilliant either.

I don't think he is "Clueless" TBH but if I'd started a thread titled "Why can't we win at home?" we'd have had a couple of replies before everybody was back to posting/arguing on the "New beginning" thread!!

I think he's an excellent manager , certainly the best since Trollope and possibly better. For me, the key point is his personality - he makes absolutely no excuses, even when there are some, like the appalling pitch at Dover: "We've played on surfaces like that in training. Just got to get on with it. No excuses." Neither does he rant about refs (much) or get carried away with either winning or losing.
Compare with the baby antics of Mourinho.

If you don't write what your actual opinion is. People aren't going to understand it. I take your viewpoint that his record in football league at home is poor. It cannot be denied. But sensationalism implying Darrell is clueless is only going to stir up negatives that aren't really needed. First of all. The sample of games you've chosen was undertaken by two completely different teams, different players, different stories, different emotions. The relegation squad was also struggling away from home. This team is not. The relegation squad had too many individuals. The current team work together. The two should be looked at differently. And the main problem we have is onion bagging. I've been to all bar the Accrington game. And barring Northampton we've been in each game and a positive result could have been achieved.
