You clearly haven't seen many (any?) games at the Mem this season to make that comment!
Whilst Nicholls has made the odd error I'm not sure he's actually cost us any games before Sunday's and even that error was not a shocker like Mildenhall's against Eastleigh last season. Away from the Mem he's been a decent keeper.

I agree with you, the attacking players we have can cause any team problems and away from home the shots are flying in. At home is a different story as Topper points out, but we are at least creating the chances which would worry me more if we weren't. I agree that Chapman is looking the better of the two loan keepers, just based on Nichols mistakes. Take them out and Nichols wins hands down  |

Well, Topper, I would certainly suggest his mistake against Newport when the score was 1-1 didn't help matters much. There is a problem at home and I can't put my finger on it, but it has to involve the whole team and the way we set up rather than just the front players. You mention away games but we have been scoring for fun in those recently (bar Southend). That's possibly why Nicholls gets away with it. Remember we scored four at Morecambe and only just managed to win. With Nicholls, it is more about the communication aspect and his command of his box, rather than his shot-stopping abilities.

Far from convinced by Nicholls myself. He came with a high reputation and decent profile. You have to question why he is 3rd choice at a league one club in the first place though. Also he has been beaten at his near post several times now and doesn't come off his line enough, actually he doesn't come off his line full stop.
His distribution is good but need more than good distribution to be a good keeper.

Now you turn you ill informed criticism to a young keeper that knows he has made mistakes, yet you use your very public platform to get under the skin of our players.
I'm sure you'd express your journalistic right to tell it how you see it. Well here'x a suggestion, stick to the forums where others an argue back and to your 3rd rate fiction about rugby.
As you say, "you're not a fan". Your opinion is as Welcome as a red shirt on the Blackthorn.

Absolute rubbish There are only 5 teams in the division that have scored less than Rovers this season and only 6 that have let in less goals That puts us sixth from the bottom on terms of scoring but seventh from the top in defence Surely that proves where the problem is - we aint scoring enough |

None of the loan keepers we have had have done enough to justify the additional expense and replacement of Mildenhall.
To me this is starting to look like there is more to leaving Mildy out than just form or ability. Financial? We can only guess, but having seen his replacements, to me this is not a football decision.
You could easily have understood if Steve Mildenhall had taken this badly, but he's there at every match, the model pro doing his bit for the club warming up his latest replacement then taking his place on the bench in case he gets the call. That can be soul destroying for a footballer and a senior pro at that.
It's time to give him his chance. Put Nicholls on the bench on Saturday and see how hungry Mildy is. By the now be absolutely champing for it.

By the now be absolutely champing for it. Last time Mildy played he looked as though breaking into a run was too hard work. Slow to say the least. Not knocking him as a great servant but his time has passed. |

Factz speak louder than words as they say and you can't really argue with "There are .....only 6 that have let in less goals" Given Parkes as been awful this season that's a pretty impressive stat. If Nicholls can put Sunday's howler behind him then I can't see any issues with him, if he continues making mistakes DC will have to look elsewhere come January, which he might have to anyway. Priorties for me are a decent CF then a winger not spending even more on another goalie. |

Nicholls as had probably cost us two league goals by his mistakes, Morecambe & Newport, neither effecting the results, does that really warrant running an article in the local press basically saying he's not good enough? No wonder we can't attract young players when we have "fans" like you ready to rush out at article in the local press once they make the odd error. |

And who blew it away at Dover? Who let one go between his legs from a free kick at home against (I can't remember) who nearly got sent off at Wembley?
They've all had bad games, but I'd stick with Nicholls no problem.

I just think that in some of his performances last season and at Northampton this season, he(mildenhall) lacked the trust of the back four. Nicholls doesn't seem like he communicates with the back four either, Newports third goal could of easily been stopped if nicholls shouts to parkes thats he's there but instead it was like parkes wanted to give it back only as a last option and as a result mistimes the header and Newport get a goalscoring oppertunity. Getting a good reliable goalkeeper is an absolute must because it's a position that we have looked shakey, our wingers are decent and we have lots of cover in the CF position even if they can't hit the back of the net if their life depended on it in certain games |

Maybe it's different because he isn't actually one of our own??
We get no benefit from him making mistakes, he will just return having gained some experience and the results don't matter to him or his club.
I have no real problem with Nicholls but Chapman was better I think

Well yea, maybe, but it's a blog, posted with a link to a website that's full of click on adverts that ruins your pc speed full of complete garbage posted by someone who's just after a hit rate reward.
And I'm not even sure he's actually a Rovers fan, you could transpose any name, or any player and post that on any club forum and it would read the same.
