Be happy with Turley. I was sure he'd sign for Swindle.

Higgins, Turley, Loan striker and two midfield signings. What did you make of last night Paul? Decent football, as painful as it may seem, Yeovil are two divisons above us and were playing Championship football last season. For long periods I didn't think the teams looked like they were in different leagues. The football under DC will be easier on the eye and more attacking. Some are concerned that we aren't scoring, but away to a league one and two side I don't think 0-3 over 180 minutes is too bad. Forget the Bath game, it was mainly trailists. If we can sign the players listed above, I will be happy going into the season. Dominic Thomas looked good. Taylor has a great first touch and looks classier than the Conference, I look forward to seeing how we get on against poorer non-league players. We have seen some very average strikers in the FL go into the Conference and score a hatful (Gall, Akinde etc). One of my biggest concerns is whether the fans will stay behind the players and manager if we get off to a shaky start. Teams that win the league often start poorly (including Luton last year I believe). No one is perfect, but DC ticks more boxes than most.

Do you know what sort of team we are putting out against Gloucester? Will go if it is first team.

Conversation with a pal who is a FGR fan:
Sounds like Turley has put pen to paper with us.
Well if thats the case you've got yourself a good player! You think? I hope so.
Yeah, he's solid on his day mate. Like i said, he can play both centre and on the right. he's like a raging bull when he's on the ball some times! Is he v quick?
He's powerful mate, he's about as quick as you want a player to be!

I'm far from convinced by the Macca - Parkes pairing (both too similar) so will be delighted with this signing.

I know this is a topic about a new signing and I agree it's a good signing - but very surprised you think Parkes and Macca are too similar?! I would honestly say they are pretty much the complete opposite?!

If we are playing three at the back with Lockyer, he gives us that element of energy needed to cover that. Parkes is a lot better than people give him credit for imo. Cuts out attacks before they even develop. I think we are bringing in Turley as a RB, I wouldn't want to upset the pairing that has been solid (at home).

He also loves to bomb on forward (which will be easier in 3 at the back formation).

We were so defensive last season that we had a lot of people to help out. I'm convinced Turley will be a cb alongside one or the other unless we play all 3 in a 5-3-2.

We were so defensive last season that we spent the entire game defending. More chances on goal = one will go in. With us controlling games the defence will have less work - or at least that's the aim.
